Sedro Woolley is part of King County and is bordered by Bothell to the east, Seattle to the west and south, and Moses Lake to the north. The community lies within the Sawtooth National Park. The Town of Sedro Woolley was first settled in 1853 when pioneer George Crouch arrived from New York City with his family. In 1863, Arthur Atherton purchased 2,000 acres (800 hectares) of land from John Dalles for $2 per acre. Today, most of this land is within the Sawtooth National Park boundaries. In 1886, Alfred Eklund donated 6 miles (10 km) of road from his ranch near Monroe to help connect Sedro Woolley with nearby Bothell and Seattle. This donation made Sedro Woolley one of Washington's earliest townsites. In 1912, a new school building was erected on what are now town square properties adjacent to today's library and post office buildings. The current school building was built in 1955 following a request by townspeople for more space after increased traffic caused by expansion into neighboring Everett during World War II. With its unique design and two levels that include a gymnasium/ Auditorium as well as classrooms/ offices/ service rooms/ an outdoor theater complete with stage and balcony were all original features; it has been designated as a historic landmark by Washington State Historic Preservation Office since 1978 . In addition to its importance historically speaking; Sedro Woolley also became known for being home to many famous people who have lived or worked in King County including: author JL Salinger; baseball players Ted Williams and Babe Ruth; singer Norma Jean Dixon; Microsoft co-founder Paul Allen Today, much like when it first came into being - SedROwly enjoys continued growth across many sectors which has led to numerous improvements over time including: new housing developments such as Broadway Place Mixed Use Village which opened in 2016; additional businesses such as Safeway ; Costco ; KFC ; Starbucks ; PDX Brewing Company ; Alice's Tea Shop & Café which relocated from Bothell in 2017; both I-5 lanes being widened leading up University Wayogenmuehl interchange becoming available for impaired drivers exiting UWF campus onto Interstate 5 North through town limits; along with several other projects totaling nearly $160 million dollars currently underway or planned throughout King County that will impact sedROwly residents directly or indirectly including but not limited to: construction on light rail extending into downtown followed by plans for Amazon no later than 2021 creating thousands jobs along its route while also expanding 45 acres (18 hectares) of open space adjacent Toole Creek Preserve providing access undeveloped areas now typically used only for vegetable farming making this project one that could potentially have significant impacts on sedROwly residents over time!

In 1897 he became the first person to be elected Mayor of Portland, Oregon. Woolley died on October 15, 1915 in Portland and is buried at Mount Hood Cemetery there.
