The company’s first aircraft, the Yak-1, was produced by the Yakovlev factory. It was a small plane with only 18 seats. However, this plane became very successful and helped make Russia an important player in aviation. The following year, the Russian Aviation Corporation created another company called Anteyev Design Bureau to produce larger planes. This company continued to produce planes until 1949 when it merged into Lavochkin Aircraft Company. The Lavochkin Aircraft Company produced many types of aircraft including bombers, fighters, and helicopters. Some of these planes were very successful and helped make Russia one of the leading aviation powers in the world during World War II. After World War II ended, Lavochkin AircraftCompany decided to discontinue production of airplanes altogether. However, it continued manufacturing helicopters which continue to be used today by many countries around the world. In 1954, LavochkinAirlines merged into Soviet Airways which continues to be an important airline today in Russia

The Spokane Air National Guard was first organized on February 14, 1917. The unit was redesignated the Spokane County Air Service on July 1, 1924 and again on April 15, 1937. On November 12, 1941 the Air National Guard was activated as an independent force and placed under the command of the United States Army Forces Northwest. The detachment became known as the 9th Bombardment Wing on December 15, 1941. On March 3, 1945 the 9th BW were transferred to Japan as part of Operation 04-02-45 which saw American forces help Japanese forces in their campaign to retake Okinawa from the Americans. In 1951 when America regained its independence from Japan, the wing became¶the 4th Bombardment Wing at Kingman AFB Arizona which it remained untilactivated in 1957.
Spokane, Washington is a city in the Yakima Valley of Western Washington. The population was 781 at the 2010 census. It is bordered by the valleys of the Wenatchee River to the east, the Columbia River to the west and south, and rural areas tothe north. Spokane's economy is based on agriculture, manufacturing, trade unions and government services. The city has a long history as an agricultural center with large tracts of land devoted to growing crops and raising livestock. The first people who arrived in what is now Spokane were Cheyenne-Athabascan Indians who lived along the Snake River before moving upriver into present-dayWashington Territory in 1855. In 1872, after Purchase of Oregon Territory by United States President Abraham Lincoln, Spokane became part of Washington Territory. By 1900, when much of what is now Spokane County was added to Washtenaw County, Spokane's population had reached 2,500. Spokane's growth continued through World War II as it became an important munitions production center for Seattle-based Boeing Corporation and other companies that developed aircraft technology during that war. After 1945, however, growth slowed as a result of high unemployment rates in post-war America and competition from new suburban communities developing around major metropolitan areas such as Phoenix and Detroit. Growth resumed starting in the early 1980s with downtown being rebuilt following a fire that destroyed most of downtown Tacoma in 1886; subsequent development led to increased traffic congestion on Interstate 5 (I-5) near downtown which caused problems for planners until improvements were made in 2003–2004 termed "The Spokes project." In recent decades there have been efforts by both City Councilmember Don Payne (D) and Mayor David Condon (D) to increase economic development withincity limits while preserving cultural heritage associated with pioneer farmers such as Jens Lehnsherr who founded Lehnsherr Farms east of town in 1847; these efforts have not been successful yet although they are ongoing

The organization's first gift was a moped bicycle to an Airman in 1918. TheAAF continued its tradition of giving gifts through the years. In 1951, an airman was given a Lockheed P-3 Orion aircraft as a Christmas present. In 1972, an M-1 Abrams tank was sent as a thank you for service during Desert Storm. In recent years, the USAF has began to give larger gifts such as planes and missiles. Gifts are often given at ceremonies or special occasions such as National Military Appreciation Day or Flag Day.

Spokane, Washington is a city in the Western U.S. state of Washington and the county seat of Spokane County. The population was 209,225 as of July 1, 2017. It is part of the Seattle–Tacoma metropolitan area and has been called "the cultural capital of Western Washington." The name "Spokane" is thought to be derived from an early guidebook which called it "The White City." The first permanent European settlers in what is now Spokane County were French Canadian fur traders who arrived in 1792. By 1847, over 50% of Spokane's residents were Anglo-Saxon Englishmen from England and Northern Ireland. In 1875, Spokane became the seat of Territorial government for Indian Territory when that territory was split into two parts: Spokane County and Lawrence County. In 1907, a group led by Microsoft co-founder Paul Allen purchased 581 acres (2 km2) of land east of present-day downtown Spokane for $10 per acre ($1 million at today's prices). Allen planned to build a small city on the site with his fortune and make it the cultural center for all western Washington. After years of planning and fundraising, construction began on Kenmore Place in 1909 and quickly dominated local civic life. The original building still stands as one of downtown Spokane's most iconic landmarks—now used as a museum—and served as home to many famous people including Harry S Truman, Franklin D Roosevelt and Marilyn Monroe. From its inception until after World War II, growth at Kenmore Place was spurred by high demand from military personnel commuting into downtown Seattle; factory workers living near Interstate 90; students commuting to Yakima University; miners travelling through town on their way to work in the mining industry; farmers going out to market; etc., not justaversal citizens or tourists looking for a place to stay while they visited Seattle or Tacoma nearby.Growth slowed during World War II as more people turned towards suburban housing options During this time period also important changes came about within American society such as women gaining political rights (1948), television becoming popular (1950s), racially segregated neighborhoods being destroyed through gentrification (1960s), AIDS hitting America(1981), hippie culture reaching Spokane (1984) – all which had an impact on business activity throughout downtownClothing stores closing during late 1960s & early 1970s due largely to increasing competition from malls In recent years there have been several waves of development affecting both aspects: Downtown redevelopment spearheaded by Mayor Don Gessler beginning in 2000 which has included new restaurants/bars/cafés/loftspace along 4th Ave SW between Union Station and Eastgate Mall; additions such as Amazon’s HQ2 built next door adjacent to 4th AveSW between Union Station Blvd.-4th Ave SW& Indianola St.; development west overlooking I-90 along 2nd Ave NW between Eastern Market Blvd.-I-90
