The Spokane army deployed gift history in 1916. The Spokane Artillery was activated on December 12, 1916 and mobilized for World War I on April 6, 1917. The regiment was mustered into the United States Army on October 1, 1917 and arrived in France on November 5th. The regiment participated in the Battle of Verdun from February to July 1918. After the battle, the unit returned home to Spokane before deploying to Europe again in 1919 where it served with distinction during the Battle of Amiens and at Aachen. In 1920,the regiment left for California where it disbanded on September 15th. In 1916, when Spokane army activated its artillery unit, there were no similar units stationed in Washington state as yet. This raised concerns amongst local business owners about how munitions might be delivered or transported through war-torn country without incident. As a result of this concern, several businesses donated materials or services related to military life such as weaponry storage and shipping containers (pictured). These donations helped make WWI possible for many soldiers and their families – something that is still felt by today’s veterans who have served our nation throughout time period!

Spokane, Washington is a city in the Northwest United States. The population was 947 at the 2010 census, making it the seventh-most populous city in the state of Washington. The first people to live in what is now Spokane werenomadic hunter-gatherers who traveled along the river for water and animal resources. They built their first permanent shelter around 9000 BC. In 1854, when Congress created Wyoming Territory, Spokane was included within that territory. The town's incorporation occurred on December 2, 1855. In 1870, an agreement was made between Cascade Lumber Company and Spokane Coal Mine Owners Association to create a transportation system connecting Georgetown with Tacoma by way of Spokes Creek and other routes running through present-day Wishram and Republic counties. This would become known as the "Spokane Valley Railway". The company built 4 miles (6 km) of track from what are now Wickenburg to its terminus at Arlington Heights in 1871. During World War I, Spokane served as a training ground for troops stationed in eastern Washington during 1917–1918 and 1919–1920; also saw service as an airfield for American Expeditionary Forces during 1918 and 1919. After the war ended, many businesses reopened including Cascade Lumber Company which had been closed down due to wartime restrictions on lumber exports from western US states Entering into contraction mode until president Franklin D Roosevelt ordered new production quotas which allowed Cascade Lumber Company to resume export shipments On July 1, 1940 Spokane became one of 36 cities throughout America granted city status by President Franklin D Roosevelt under his New Deal program called "City Status: A Opportunity For All" designating these cities as " National City Cities". In 1951 Mayor John Heider established precipitation measurements for all Umpqua River valleys including downtown spokane so data could be used by urban planners for flood control planning purposes

Spokane is a city located in Oregon, in the United States. The population was 309,391 at the 2010 census. It is the 8th most populous city in Oregon and home to the Spokane Valley. Spokane's history goes back to 1852 when it was founded as a trading post by miners who were looking for gold and silver. In 1912, Spokane became an independent city. The original name of the city was "Wahkiwatha." The first white settlers arrived in what is now Spokane on July 4, 1853, when Capt. George Vancouver and his party of thirteen men set out from Fort Hall with goods they had brought overland from British Columbia. They named their new town Wahkiwatha after Chief Yahkon's daughter Wahi (meaning " Place where I will sleep"). After two years of settlement, Vancouver found no gold or silver but he did find several lakes full of fish which he sold to local farmers for hides and shoe strings. By 1860, Wahkiwatha had become a thriving community with some 7 churches, 264 houses and 350 people living there. On December 5 that year, Vancouver died after being crushed under a rock while prospecting for minerals near present-day Coeur d'Alene Falls; his death marked the beginning of an era of decline for Wahkiwatha which would see its population drop gradually until it vanished completely by 1900. In 1889, Congress passed the Indian Reorganization Act which established divisional councils within each Indian reservation so that chiefs could better manage their subjects' resources more effectively. Because many powelands lying between Yakima River and Puget Sound were claimed by both tribes - including parts of Spokane - Washington Senator John Sherman recommended that part of Yakima County be added to Thurston County so as not to create any further minority groups living cheek by jowl with whites without any intermarriage allowed between them - something Sherman called "the great assimilation campaign." This plan failed because Thurston County was already too populous; instead it became King County while Yakima went into eclipse as a separate tribal entity after becoming part of Washtenaw County in 1897 due largely to economic problems caused by federal government interventionism during World War II . That same year saw another milestone for Spokane when Mayor Edward Doherty installed electric streetlights throughout the city center followed four years later by fluoridation – making it one of only two cities in America to do so – though this decision met strong resistance from Chinatown merchants who saw health benefits only secondary importance given increased crime rates resultant from turn-of-the-century immigrants coming into town seeking work opportunities . On October 15th 1895 Spokanites made their mark on history when they organized themselves into their own political party known as the Citizens’ Party which slate William McKinley as its candidate against incumbent Grover Cleveland in November 1896 . However, McKinley lost handily thanks largely to Republican National Committee support combined with Democrat opponent Felix Mears’s superior organization skills .. In 1898 following Clinton’s victory over McKinley and State Treasurer John Cavanaugh Sr.,Spokane voted unanimously against annexation into Washtenaw County due mostlyto fears about water availability.. While not fully responsible for turning around City finances during this time period (spokane annexed Washtenaw Counties along with KittitasCounty shortly thereafter), Cavanaugh did serve prominently behind scenes during this watershed event known locally as “Cinco de Mayo” because much like Mexican nationals flooding INTO American communities following President Francisco Lopez Rivera's September 1946 proclamation creating statehood for Mexico City , many Spokanites felt similarly outraged at what they saw as encroachment onto their communityural space .. Aided greatly by then Sheriff Donald Buhl (who took office upon Cavanaugh’s retirement) Spokanites put together a very successful petition drive leading up to Proposition 10 – also known colloquially as Measure H – which successfully qualifiedfor statewide ballot status on November 3rd 1908 .. Although measures suchas Prop 2A were approved overwhelmingly prior thereto via popular vote resulting in spokane becoming our second city overallto legalize Marijuana usage since day one (!), subsequent prosecutions targeting these low end weed smokers helped contribute significantly TO THE current high rate Of Drug Abuse & Dependence among young adults here today courtesy OF OUR MILITARY FORCES stationed HERE IN SUPPORT OF THEIR DRUG CONTROL PROGRAMS !! Notwithstanding recent attempts makeover initiated BY SOME SPOKANITE ADMINISTRATIVES DUE TO POLITICAL REASONING WHILE NO REAL CHANGE IS NEEDED AT THIS TIME (& AGAIN THEREFORE IT SHOULD BE KNOWN THAT THE ORIGINAL SPOKANITE GOVERNMENT WAS FAR FROM PERFECTLY CORRECT OR COMPETENT WHEN IT COME TO CITY MANAGEMENT& EDUCATION BUT MUCH LIKE ANY GOOD FAMILY FOUNDATION ITS ECONOMIC PROGRESS CAN ONLY BE UP AND OUT WHEN ALL MEMBERS AGREE TO HELP MAKE SURE THAT SUCH PROGRESS IS NOT STOPPED BY FALSE CLAIMS OF INTEREST OR POLITICAL HARASSMENT) .. Spokane increased its population by 50% between 1880 and 1920. By 1930, the city had over 100,000 residents. The city also played a significant role in the Battle of Lake Elsinore which ended with California's victory over Japan on September 14th 1945.
