The USAF has a rich history in Sunnyside, Washington. The first airbase in the area was established at Andersen Air Force Base in 1941. The USAF operated out of Sunnyside untilactivated in 1947. In 1951, the United States Air Forces Europe (USAFE) moved to Sunnyside from RAF Bentwaters in England and began operations under the command of United States Air Forces Europe (USAFE/USNORAD). In 1957, USAAFE was redesignated as the USAF 30th Missile Wing and activated at Sunnyside. It became an operational wing with three squadrons: 1st Missile Squadron (later 2nd Missile Squadron), 3rd Missile Squadron, and 4th Missile Squadron. In 1966, changes were made to Sqdn Arakawa due to budget cuts which resulted in its disbanding and its assets being reassigned to other brigades within USNORAD. On 1 September 1969, Sqdn Arakawa reactivated at Sunnyside under new mission & control authority as part of Aerospace Defense Command’s 5th Space Wing; it concurrently assumed assigned mission & control responsibility for all elements of Earth-based space systems*. In 1986*, when Headquarters USAF reorganized subordinate commands following the drawdown of USAFE* after the Cold War ended*,Sunny Side AFB became Commands Element (CE) for Commander-in-Chief Earth Systems Command*. This change followed a policy directive from Headquarters USAF which said that commands should be structured so that each element had direct operational control over all DOD elements located on or below Manassas Airport†.* *After successful test launch of KH-12 satellite by Japan on 10 Mar 1986*, sunny side AFB became home field for KH-12 launching complex where launches took place from 18 Apr1986 through 15 May1986 **Sunny Side AFB reverted back to CE status on 14 Jul 1991 ***On 15 Dec 1993 CE designation changed again to "Aerospace Defense Command's 5th Space Wing" ****Sunny Side is now known as Peterson Field****

The Sunnyside Air Force Base Gift History began in the early 1940s when Lieutenant Colonel George W. Smith, Jr. donated land to the base in order to build a new airfield. The first gift was a plane and engine from the Boeing company. In 1949, General Hugh J. Johnson gave a set of graduation robes and insignia for all airmen at Sunnyside AFB. In 1957, General John Sperry gifted an airplane and engine to Sunnyside AFB. The next year, Colonel James Aiken donated a hangar and 60 acres of land to the base in order to build an airstrip. The gift was accepted with thanks by the local community and military alike. On November 1st, 1960, Major General Don Armstrong presented a set of decorations and an American flag to Sunnyside AFB after it had been named one of America's top military academies by then-President Eisenhower. On December 3rd of that year, USAF Chaplain (later Air Vice Marshal) Aloysius Hickey presented gifts including an American flagpole and two sets of graduated robes for all enlisted personnel at Sunnyside AFB on behalf of his predecessor chaplain Reverend Payson Greenough who had served there since 1945!
Sunnyside, Washington is a small town in Clark County, Washington, United States. The population was 2,848 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Wenatchee–Clark County Metropolitan Statistical Area. Sunnyside is located on the east side of the Yakima River and it borders North Wenatchee to the north and West Wenatchee to the west. Sunnyside was founded in 1887 as a small farmstead by George Aiken. By 1907, Sunnyside had a post office and two churches: First Baptist on Elk Creek Road and Messiah Lutheran on Elm Street. In 1912, Sunnyside had its first school - Sunnyside Elementary School - which served students from kindergarten through 8th grade. In 1954, Sunnyside became an incorporated municipality with full voting rights. At that time it had a population of just over 100 people. Over time, SunnysIDE has grown into one of the most vibrant towns in Clark County with many businesses and residents involved in many aspects of life including government, education/ services, arts & culture, agriculture/farming etc., helping to make it an attractive place to live and work today!
There is no one definitive answer to this question, as airforce gift history can vary greatly depending on the individuals who have contributed to the USAF. However, some of the more prominent contributors include General Dwight D. Eisenhower, Admiral Chester Nimitz and Colonel James K. Polk III. Each of these individuals had a significant impact on the USAF and their respective branches of service. This shows his dedication to giving back to those he interacted with within the military community. Sunnyside is a small town in Washington State, United States. It was founded in 1872 by Scottish immigrants and is now located in the Kitsap County seat of Sammamish. Sunnyside is known for its namesake, Sunnyside Park, which includes a nature center, playground, and picnic area.
On Sunnyside, Washington in 1847, the United States acquired what is now Cascade County from British Columbia. The area had been part of Oregon since the mid-19th century and was sparsely populated. The U.S. government decided to make Cascade County a territory within Oregon so that it could be managed more efficiently by American officials. In 1850, a group of men led by James Kootenai set out from Portland on foot to explore the new land they were acquiring. They named their new community Sunnyside because of the bright sun shining down on them every day during their travels. The town quickly grew and soon became a center for industry and trade in Oregon's Willamette Valley. In 1853, when Congress passed the Kansas-Nebraska Act, which allowed Missouri to become an independent state, Sunnyside voted in favor of joining Nebraska as well. This made Sunnyside one of the most socially active communities in both states at this time. Sunnyside experienced some financial difficulties during its early years; however, it soon regained its footing thanks to its importance as a commercial center and its proximity to major transportation hubs such as Portland and Seattle. By the late 19th century, Sunnyside had become one of the most prosperous towns in Northwest America due to its successful business practices and its location within easy reach of major metropolitan areas such as Seattle and Portland
