Navy deployments have always been a part of the Sunnyside community. The USS Constitution was deployed to Guantanamo Bay, Cuba in 1898 and again in 2002. From there, the USS George Washington served as a floating barracks for military members and their families during Operation Neptune's Spear, which fought in Afghanistan. Additionally, the USS John F Kennedy served as a base of operations from 1962-1964 while it underwent trials for missiles targeted at Russia. In recent years, Navy deployments have become more common. In 2013, the USS Ronald Reagan left Portsmouth Naval Shipyard after serving as an amphibious assault ship for Operation Neptune's Spear and is currently on its way to Kuwait where it will serve as part of Trump’s new nuclear strategy. The USS Abraham Lincoln also deployed to Kuwait in 2013 but returned home after nine months deployment. Admiral Harry Harris commanding carrier strike group 12 said that this deployment was only “the beginning” of what he plans to do with his Carrier Strike Group 12. He plans on additional deployments throughout the year. Sunnyside is a census-designated place in Clark County, Washington, United States. The population was 1,846 at the 2010 census. Sunnyside is part of the Seattle metropolitan area. Sunnyside's name comes from its location on the sunward side of Lake Union and adjacent to the Comstock Locks National Wildlife Refuge. The first settler in Sunnyside was James Bunch, who arrived in 1853. He named his farm "Sunny Side." In 1885, John Daugherty purchased land east of Sunnyside from James Bunch for $1,000. Daugherty developed what is now Sunnyside into a small town with two-story frame homes and common areas such as a schoolhouse and store. By 1915, most of what remains of Sunnyside had been replaced by housing developments scattered around present-day Seattle; only one house still stands on Daugherty's original property. In 1962, when Seattle annexed parts of King County and merged it into the city limits ( creating diverse neighborhoods within which people could live), Sunnyside remained an enclave within Seattle proper. It wasn't until 1984 that annexation made it an official CDP within Clark County; today there are no schools or services available to residents outside of their own neighborhood According to the 2000 Census*, there were 1,815 people living in Sunnyside & 2 completely detached houses (of all types) stood vacant or unoccupied at 9/2010 due to Hurricane Gustav attack causing massive power outages throughout much of WAUSAU county!

Sunnyside is a small town in King County, Washington. Sunnyside was first settled in the late 1800s and became a suburb of Seattle after World War II. Sunnyside is located on the east side of Seattle and is bordered by Renton to the south, Auburn to the north, Redmond to the east, and Issaquah to the west. The population of Sunnyside was 9,814 as of 2010. The history of Sunnyside begins with its founding in 1898 as an agricultural community near what is now Puyallup Lake. In 1916, Sunnyside joined Seattle's cityhood movement and began developing into a suburban community with homes that could be rented or bought. The first house in Sunnyside was built in 1922 by John Ackerly and his wife, Mabel Dodge Ackerly. Sunny Side had its peak development around World War II when many GIs came home from war and found a new home hereabouts. Sunny Side saw many schools open up such as Snohomish High School (now preschool), Kirkland High School (now Kirkland Community College), Empire Technical College, American Legion Post #2 (now Manor Park Elementary), Pacific Lutheran University—Seattle Campus (now called Bellevue Christian College) and First Baptist Church which served as both a school and church until it burned down in 1978. Sunny Side also experienced some growth during the 1960s when students at nearby Snohomish Junior-Senior High School moved into their own buildings following annexation by SunnySide itself. Many businesses followed suit including Wacoal Shoes which opened up shop on South Mercer Street in 1962; Dick's Sporting Goods which opened up store on Westlake Boulevard adjacent to Valley View Elementary School; Aloha Airlines' Boeing 747-200 landing at Sea-Tac Airport; King County Fairgrounds where demonstrations were held against Spanish influenza; Apple Inc.'s original headquarters for computer products before it relocated to Shoreline Village shortly thereafter Penguin Place Mall opened1 - all within walking distance of each other! The last time large numbers of people lived close together wasn't until recent times when developers have begun building high rise apartments near CenturyLink Field making sunnahside even more unaffordable for most families resultanting in less use from local businesses once again becoming an enclave for affluent professionals only
The first white settlers in Sunnyside were Captain John Sell and his wife Margarita. Captain Sell had been brought over as a passenger on the USS Independence in 1846. The couple was the only white people to live in Sunnyside at the time. They started a small farm, which they continued to run until their death in 1870. A post office was established in Sunnyside on October 3, 1851, and remained open until it was discontinued on December 15, 1907. Sunnyside's most famous resident is Alice Paul, an American freedom fighter who spent her formative years here. She moved to Seattle after being freed from prison by General William Tecumseh Sherman during World War I. In 1955, Sunnyside became part of the newly created King County municipality. In 1969, it merged with neighboring Snohomish County to become one of the largest municipalities in Washington state.
