Sunnyside is a small town in Sunnyside County, Washington, United States. The population was 462 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Bellevue–Kirkland–Union metropolitan area. The first coffee shop in Sunnyside opened on Main Street in 1907 and was the only store in Sunnyside until 1949 when a second store opened on East Pike Street. In 1954 a third store opened on South Pacific Avenue and one year later, a fourth store opened on West Indian Island Road. In 1957, Sunnyside had its first gas station with two pumps and in 1978 an electric Cooperative Grocery chain grocery store was added to the mix with six stores total including four gas stations by then. Today Sunnyside has twelve businesses employing over ninety people including six restaurants, four retail stores and two services companies including three engineering firms that provide consulting services for local businesses. Coffee has been an important part of Sunnyside's history for many years and there are still some coffee shops active today that offer quality coffee at reasonable prices from sixty-six different roasters from all around the world.

Sunnyside is a census-designated place in Clallam County, Washington, United States. The population was 2,814 at the 2010 census. Sunnyside is part of the Seattle–Tacoma metropolitan area. The first European to visit the area now known as Sunnyside were two brothers, Giovanni and Matteo Ricci who stopped by on their way from Japan in 1792 while exploring Puget Sound. From here they developed a small farmstead which they named "Riccios". In 1822 Captain James Cook surveyed the area and named it after his sponsor and mentor Sir John Nelson Dickenson who donated land for the town site. At this time there were no roads or settlements within commuting distance so development of Sunnyside took many years until passenger railroads arrived in 1915 and completed streetcar service that year between Tacoma and Seattle making Sunnyside an important center of commerce for both cities. Today Sunnyside continues to be home to a wide variety of businesses with its location close to Interstate 5 and Highway 126 giving it easy access to major shopping districts in both Seattle and Tacoma. The community has seen growth over the years with annexation of adjacent properties including much needed open space that makes it easier for residents to live near nature while still being able to Accessorize their homes with new developments like golf courses, shopping malls, schools, water parks etcetera.

In 1875, developer George Condon purchased land near present-day Third Avenue South and Greenwood Avenue Northwest to build what would become Sunnyside Heights. The first homes were built there in 1876. By 1903, it had grown to include parts of today's Sunnyside neighborhood including much of what are now Northgate Boulevard, Eastlake Boulevard and North 56th Street NW
