Gun gift history in Tukwila, Washington began with the purchase of a revolver by Prentice C. Smith in 1892. That same year, Ingrimm and Sons, located at 5th and Main Streets, started selling Firearms and Ammunition to individuals and businesses in the town. The store was open for two years before closing due to financial difficulties. In 1903, Wm. Hennepin Arms Company opened up shop at 6th and Main Street in Tukwila. They offered pistols, shotguns, rifles and ammunition along with a variety of other firearms products. This business operated for over twenty-five years until it closed its doors in 1951. During World War II, local residents formed the Gun Owners’ League of Puget Sound (GOPS) to advocate for gun ownership rights within the war effort. GOPS collaborated with other organizations to collect donations of guns and ammunition from citizens across the region. The group eventually amassed over 350 handguns and 100 rifles by 1945. After the war ended, GOPS disbanded due to lack of funding but their legacy lives on today as Tukwila Gun Club Incorporated which meets monthly at 7:00 p.m.( Thurdays) at Stonington Hall downtownTUKWILA

Tukwila is a city in the U.S. state of Washington, located on the Puget Sound region of the westernside of Seattle metropolitan area. The population was 298,811 as of 2018,[1] making it the third-largest city in Washington and one of its five most populous cities. Tukwila has been called "the cultural and commercial capital" of the Puget Sound area, with many major retailers and businesses based there. The city is also home to University Village, a mixed-use development designed to bring arts, culture, retail and office space together in an urban setting that attracts people from around Seattle. The first European settlers arrived in 1792 by way of what is now Everett when Captain James Cook sailed his ship Discovery into Puget Sound for trade purposes. In 1851, after years of lobbying by John Jacob Astor III and other businesspeople who wanted to establish their own city nearby on land they had acquired from the government at Yakima River Junction (now part of Bellevue), Tukwila was founded on November 3rd, 1851 by businessmen George Stephenson and Lorenzo Dowell with assistance from General Order No. 9887/1849 which established streetscapes for new townships withinSeattle Municipal District (Municipal Districts were created during Territorial days). The first settler's house was built on what is now First Avenue South near Union Station. A post office was established at Tukwila on December 1st, 1851; it remained operational until September 15th, 1893 when it became part of Seattle.[2][3][4] Tukwila grew rapidly thanks to its location just southof downtownSeattle along both sidesof Elliott Bay - perfect for shipping goods between townspeople living upstream and those living downstream - as well as its cheap labor force made up largely of Scandinavian immigrants who brought their skills back to America following World War II.[5] In 1964 construction began on University Village which would become one of North America's biggest housing complexes ever built;[6][7][8] today University Village remains one of Tukwila's most popular tourist attractions with over 40 restaurants and hotels situated within walking distance including several high-end shopping centers including Saks Fifth Avenue flagship store[9], Nordstrom Department Store,[10] Macy’s,[11][12] Sears Holdings Corporation’s(ESR) Hoffman Estates department store[13], Apple Inc.'s(AAPL) campus store[14],[15]), Boeing Phantom Works' Everett Naval Air Station'dockyard warehouse complex[16],and Microsoft Corp.'s Redmond WA headquarters building adjoining Amazon Web Services Headquarters.[17]. Tukwila is a small city in the state of Washington, located on the south shore of Lake Tapps. The population was 9,711 at the 2010 census. It is the seat of Thurston County. The first permanent settler in what is now Tukwila was John Cretz in 1847. The town grew rapidly after logging and fishing became major industries in the early 1800s. A post office was established here in 1851, and by 1865 it had reached its present size. In 1881, a railroad depot and freight station were built here; this served as a key transportation link for settlements along Puget Sound. In 1916, during World War I, Japanese forces invaded Swanson Valley (now part of Tukwila) and burned most of the homes near what is now North Main Street. This destroyed much of downtown Tukwila and led to its current name: "The Destruction Day". Tukwila experienced another significant event during World War II: when American forces invaded Japan from the north Shore area on 7 December 1945. They entered through North Main Street which then became known as “The beach” due to extensive damage done to buildings by American bombing raids over that period. Many residents fled during these bombings but many others decided to stay because they believed that Japan would eventually surrender unconditionally – not knowing that this would actually occur only days later! "Aftermath: A History of Tacoma's Downtown Area" by Don Weisman tells the story of how downtown Tacoma emerged from destruction following World War II with new businesses and structures being erected such as Tacoma-North High School (later Tacoma Pacific University), Interstate 5, and State Route 99A."
Tukwila was founded in 1882 by Seattle businessmen David and George Guthrie. The city's first store, a grocery, opened in 1886. Tukwila grew rapidly during the early 20th century as a municipality, annexing nearby Weymouth and Ballard neighborhoods in 1912 and 1916. In 1924, the city annexed all of Snohomish County. The population of Tukwila peaked at over 100,000 in 1950 but dwindled to around 60,000 by 1970; it has since become a small town with a population of about 30,000.
