They found what they were looking for when they purchased the old Kincaid Tire store at 1199 Westlake Ave S., which became their current headquarters. since then Tukwila has been home to two other Starbucks stores: One on Capitol Hill and one off Interstate 5 near Microsoft Campus.
Tukwila is a city in Kitsap County, Washington, United States. The population was 11,591 at the 2010 census. It lies on Puget Sound and is bordered by Seattle to the south and east, Bellevue to the north, and Issaquah to the west. It is served by Tukwila Transit Authority (TTA) bus routes 2 (to Seattle), 5 (to Bellevue), 6 (to Issaquah), 8 (to Tacoma), 9 (to Lynnwood), 10 (to Everett), 12(to Olympia), 13(to Yakima/Olympia) and 17th Avenue South bus route 25. The first European settlers in what is now Kitsap County were French fur traders who arrived in 1792. They named their new land "Oregon" after King George II of Great Britain's province of Canada. After Oregon became a U.S. territory in 1848, people from Tukwila began arriving as well, some coming overland from Vancouver Island while others landing onshore on small boats or Ships of Opportunity built by local entrepreneurs such as James Padden. By 1870 there were nearly 100 residents living in Tukwila when Wm Hite organized the Kitsap County Republican Party for local elections that year; he later served as its first chairman and councilman. In 1876 Wm Hite married Anna Smith and built a home next door to his father-in-law's store on First Street which they would use until 1911 when they moved into their present house at Ninth Avenue South and Westlake Boulevard #2B. That same year they had their first child: Bertha Hite Hite born November 16th1876 near Third Street where she still lives today with her husband Harold Padden Sr., son of James Padden who helped start TTA bus service in 1951 In 1906 Wm J Grieve bought property adjoining his parents' home on First Street & Tenth Avenue South for $1,000 which he donated to the county government for use as an open space park known today as Grieve Park (). There are several interesting stories about this early days including how one day Wm JGrieve found an old white board with plans for a ferry landing between Puget Sound & Lake Union - something that never happened! In 1916 Tukwila got its first telephone line when Western Electric erected wires along Second Avenue SE from NW corner of First & Seventh Streets SE to SW corner of Eighth streets SE In 1924 phone company leased building at Ninth Ave S & Westlake Boulevard #2B from Western Electric Company This building serves currently as TA Bus depot . By 1935 there were 3 blocks wide road alignment with intersecting streets platted out followed by further development including erection of homesites behind railroad tracks just west of Central Square
