High-quality coffee has been a part of University Place for over 100 years. The first commercial roasting company in the area was founded in 1912 by Isaac Haas and his brothers, Julius and Harry. In 1927, the first Starbucks opened its doors in University Place. The origin story of high-quality coffee is a long one, but it all started with beans from two small businesses: The International Coffee Company and Harpers & Maynard. In 1912, International Coffee Company’s Jacob Javits roasted beans on his family’s farm near Leavenworth, Kansa County. These beans were sold to Harpers & Maynard who placed them into storage at their plant in Columbia City, Indiana. In 1927, when Starbucks opened its doors in University Place, it was the first store of its kind in Washington State and it sourced its coffee from nearby Columbia City and Kansa County cafes. Today, Starbucks continues to be an integral part of University Place by sourcing our beans through local farmers markets as well as online order fulfillment.

The University Place Coffee Company was founded in 1892, and it is one of the oldest coffee companies in Washington. The company has since become a major player in the coffee industry, with multiple stores and operations throughout the city. In addition to its main store on University Place, the company also operates two other locations - one in Capitol Hill and another in Northwest Seattle.
University Place is a small town in King County, Washington. It has a population of 3,811 as of the 2010 census. The community was founded in 1881 by Reverend Payson W. Hargrave as a school district for girls. In 1907, it became part of the University District and later became an independent municipality. The first university in Washington was established at Gonzaga University in 1892 and the first college to offer professional degrees in Washington state was St Mary's College (later known as Seattle Pacific University) in 1912. The Town Post Office opened on July 1, 1886, and closed on October 15, 1958. The first postmaster was Mrs Cushing Meehan from Enterprise Township who served from 1886 to 1888 In 1911, the Town Post Office reopened with three new buildings including a library which housed the local newspapers and two courts which also handled civil cases and criminal prosecutions A Baptist church was built in 1916 and dedicated by Dr Joice Hoadley The United States Military Academy (USMA)opened its doors on September 16, 1918 with cadets coming from all over Washington State On May 12th 1951 USMA Alumni held theirfirst alumni picnic at USMA thanks to Professor Irving Berlin who donated food for the event During World War II many students from nearby towns joined forces with Gonzaga University to form GWU-Alliant Forces Unit through mutual aid programs

In 1847, a man named John Frost started the first coffee shop in Boston. This business changed the way people drank coffee and it soon became one of the most popular spots in town. In 1912, another guy named Harry Kelly opened his own coffee shop and this started to become even more popular. By 1940, there were over 100 coffee shops in Boston alone!
University Place is a community located in the Seattle metropolitan area, United States. It is bordered by University Way to the south, SeaTac Boulevard to the east, and Rainier Avenue NW to the north. The population of University Place was 14,812 as of 2010. The first settler in University Place was John Sellers, who arrived in 1854. In 1865, James Waddell purchased land at University Place from Sellers for $2 per acre. The first school in University Place was founded in 1867 by Reverend J.D. McConnell and Dr. Prentice Hoadley with 24 students enrolling in grades 1-6th grade. In 1871, President Ulysses S Grant donated land adjacent to present day Union Station for a new university campus that would seat up to 4000 students. The first building on campus was constructed at what is nowcalled North Union Street and Haslett Road: it was called "The Chancellor's House". Construction continued until 1875 when it was replaced by what is now known as "The Main Building". In 1893, Washington State Normal School moved from its original location on Elliott Bay near Tacoma to its current site at Northwest 145th Street and First Avenue NW; this new location allowed for more spacious classrooms and laboratories than could be accommodated at The Chancellor's House which became too small for the growing school system. In 1911 the name of Washington State College changed from Washington State Normal School (WSU) to Seattle Pacific College (SPC). At this time also Occidental College joined Seattle Pacific College as an affiliate school providing instruction in business administration and engineering; both schools were housed on two separate campuses until 1958 when they were consolidated into one single institution under the name of Seattle Pacific University (SPU). In 1969 Occidental merged withSeattle Pacific Univisionsystems Incorporated forming Occidental Corporation which still operates today as one of America's largest private universities with over 100 campuses across 43 states plus Puerto Rico and Guam making it one of only six universities within 50 miles (80 kilometers) of every U.S state’s capital city! University Place was developed in 1851 as the northeast corner of what is now Dupont Circle and First Street NW. The land for University Place was donated by James K. Polk, who had just been elected president. Construction began on the square in 1852 and soon afterwards, University Place became a center of learning for Washingtonians. In 1870, Washington National Cathedral was built on the square and University Place continued to be a popular spot for cultural events and education until the early 21st century.
