Mr. Hughes is an enlisted member of the Air National Guard from Snohomish County, WA and has served with the unit since its activation in 2004. Sgt. 1st Class Daniel A. Hughes was born on October 8th, 1984 in Everett, Washington to John and Dianne Hughes. He attended Everett High School where he played football and soccer for his school’s varsity team and was a senior captain of both teams as a senior linebacker. After high school graduation, Sgt. 1st Class Daniel A. Hughes entered the military service when he Selected into the United States Military Academy at West Point where he graduated first in his class with a degree in Business Administration on May 3rd, 2006 . After completing basic training at Lackland AFB (TX), Sgt 1st Class Daniel A. Hughes was assigned to Headquarters-7th Wing at Joint Base Lewis-McChord (Wash.), Wash., where he served as an enlisted soldier for two years before being commissioned as an officer on January 6th 2009 . Sgt 1st Class Daniel A HUGHES' current assignment is duty with Headquarters-3d Wing based out of RAF Mildenhall UK . His primary duty includes air traffic control support for NATO members Allied airspace over Europe

On July 12, 1941, the United States Air Force deployed a gift to Japan in commemoration of the attack on Pearl Harbor. The gift was an American-made B-17 Flying Fortress bomber nicknamed "The Missouri" and delivered to Japana by air cargo. The plane had been used as a training aircraft for pilots during World War II and was assigned to the 5th Fighter Squadron at Andersen Air Force Base in Guam. On its deployment, "The Missouri" made two flights over Japan in order to photographic evidence of Japanese military preparations for war.
In 1855, a group of farmers in the town of Woodinville thought it would be a great idea to build a school. They pooled their money and started construction on the first public school in Washington state. The school was named after General James K. Polk and was built on land donated by Colonel John P. Hill. The school was successful and soon other farmers began to donate land for schools. By 1890, there were thirteen public schools in Washington State and Woodinville became known as the "School Capital of America." The town also played an important role in U.S history. In 1941, when Japan bombed Pearl Harbor, Woodinville officials helped lead the effort to save the city from destruction by creating a diversionary airfield called "Canterbury" which allowed Allied bombers to bomb Japanese targets near Seattle without causing civilian casualties. After World War II, Woodinville became a popular tourist destination and remains an important community today.
