Woodinville is a city in Puget Sound, Washington, United States. The population was 27,711 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of King County. Woodinville was incorporated on February 28, 1902. The name "Woodinville" was given to the town by General James Wilkinson after he and his army destroyed an Indian village near present-day WoodinVILLE on December 12, 1814 during the War of 1812. The people of what is now Woodinville first settled there in what is now King County in 1792 when they were driven from their home by Native Americans under the command of Chief Seattle. At first they built wigwams close to where the current downtown sits today and hunted game for subsistence until white settlers began arrive in droves in the late 1800s. The first post office at what is now Woodinville was established on July 3, 1852, and it served as the hub of trade and transportation for this sparsely populated area that measures just over two square miles at its widest point with no railroads or airports nearby. By 1870 wood had been harvested all around here so much that an additional post office was established a mile south atpresent day Ballard which continued to serve as an important center for communication until 1909 when Tacoma became its new metropolitan center following incorporation into Seattle. During World War II most of central Puget Sound was filled with munitions production leading to more than a dozen munitions plants being located within one mile of downtown Woodinville including Boeing’s Everett plant which manufactured military planes throughout World War II as well as providing employment for many local residents including many who would go onto found their own families businesses Downtown during that time In 1948 when Seattle annexed King County we increased our population about 20% through annexing smaller communities east of Interstate 5 like Elma and Ridgefield along with Dawson Creek which had previously been part of Snohomish County . This has resulted in some Discordant Planning locations like Westlake Village which shares borders with Bellevue but lies adjacent to Bellevue while also sharing streets with Redmond & Bothell both located directly across I-5 from Downtown Edmonds During this time Downtown retail core experienced rapid growth due in large part to annexation of neighboring communities without proper planning or justification almost doubling existingresidential density without any corresponding increase in public services ( streetlights, libraries etc) resulting ultimatelyIn 1990 when approved plans were submitted for Central District shopping Center development adjacent to Denny Way bounded by Yesler Way Northeast & Union Pacific Railroad tracks developing into a major arterial road having over 10 million sq ft developed beneath it only 2 years later approval was given finalizing over $120 million dollars worth development creating perhaps one of largest mall projects ever undertaken outside those typically favored areas such as Carter’s Valley Mall near Dallas TX while simultaneously causing significant community opposition becoming known popularly as “The X” project due primarily to high traffic volumes associated with anchor stores such as Sears Tower overshadowing pedestrian walkability/culinary options Close inspection reveals numerous glaring deficiencies such As rooflines are pitch black even during daylight revealing metal fatigue defects; sidewalks are too straight making walking difficult; attached buildings have signage covering entire side wall instead of just top/bottom line; several blocks long connecting unrelated driveway entrances create lots OF dead end streets rather then logical connections between individual buildings increasing cyclist exposure; extensive landscaping completewith trees growing up against building walls results in little privacy & greatly reduces wind noise
