On 9/9/1992 she was accepted into MARAD service under hull number DD 9302 . She has been moored at Everett Towing anchorage since then .....Ashland is currently retired from active duty with MARAD but still stored afloat"

In 1850s Douglas Fairbanks (1857-1948) founded Alaska Pacific Company's Yukon Gold Rush Mining District just east of town and spent much of his money here buying land from farmers near Timberline Lake before selling it back to them at high prices to expand gold rushes throughout western Canada In 1865 while stationed at Fort Vancouver on Puget Sound he met his future wife Eliza McCurdy here while she was visiting local merchants as part of her missionary work with Saint John’s Episcopal Church They married at Fort Vancouver on April 12 1865 After their return home they started a family that would grow into one of the largest in the area Their son Alun (1868-1951) became an accomplished logger who farmed around town untilhis death in 1951 Another son Willard (1900-1984) also became an accomplished logger as well as mayor of Woodinville from 1945 until his death in 1984 . Another son Donald (1955-) currently lives here with his wife Lynn about 2 miles south east of downtown WoodinVILLE on property they bought years ago from pioneers who had been platted this spot

The first white settlers in Woodinville were James and Deborah White, who arrived in 1817. The town was named for Captain John Woodin, a British naval officer who had been killed in Action at the Battle of Seattle on July 9, 1814. In 1847, the town became a county seat when Washington County was organized. The population of Woodinville grew rapidly during the early days of its development and by 1860 it had reached over 1,000 residents. In 1870, the county seat moved to Everett and the population decreased to around 500 residents until it increased again by 1900 to over 10,000 residents. During World War II, Woodinville played an important role as a production center for munitions production in Puget Sound. More than 2 million barrels of oil were produced here during World War II alone. After the war ended, many Sawmill Workers’ Memorial Park (now known as Pioneer Square) businesses closed because of competition from outside sources. However, many local businesses such as Golden Corral remain today and continue to play an important role in the community.
