Allouez is a town in the U.S. state of Wisconsin, located in the Driftless Area of the Great Lakes region. The population was 2,752 at the 2000 census. Allouez is on the alluvial plain between the three valleys which form the Kettle Moraine National Park and are crossed by several streams including River Fox and River La Crosse. The first permanent settler in what would become Allouez was Nicholas Kretschmer in 1835. A post office was established at Allouez in 1839, and remained in operation until it was discontinued in 1903. The community received its name from John Pauldingall Allouez, who ranched land near present-day town limits during the early 19th century. Allouez's first industry may have been agriculture; some evidence suggests that maize and other crops were grown there as early as 1854. By 1870, local mills had begun to be erected; these included a mill built by George Hodge within sight of present day town hall - this became one of Wisconsin's first flour mills when it opened its doors on November 9, 1870. In 1886, railroad construction began through what is now Alloueez Township; this led to an increase in traffic to local businesses and an corresponding growth of local industries including a foundry and machine shop (both later closed). Manufacturing has since declined significantly but remains important job provider for Alloueez residents today; many jobs are related to aluminum production or other light manufacturing activities which take place outside the township boundaries while still affecting neighboring townships such as Racine and Kenosha County altogether). Allouez is a town in Dane County, Wisconsin, United States. The population was 1,591 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Milwaukee–Waukesha–Oak Creek Metropolitan Statistical Area. The first settler in Allouez was James Hennessey, who came to the area in 1837. The first post office was established in 1841, and the town name originated from nearby Allouette Lake. In 1852, A.H. Shaver opened a mercantile business in Allouez and built a store building that still stands today on Main Street. Allouez was incorporated as a village in 1892 and became an unincorporated community when it merged with neighboring Oak Creek into one municipality. On January 1, 2002, Allouez became an official town after being granted full city status by the Wisconsin State Legislature following a vote by its citizens (88% yes). Allouez is located at (43.*7), which is just north of Milwaukee's border with Waukesha County and east of Madison Heights Township; its elevation above sea level ranges from . According to the 2010 census, its total area is ; within its borders are ten housing developments: "Belleview", "Brooklyn Heights", "Cedar Grove", "Downtown Allouez", "Garland Park", "Greenfield Village", "Hillcrest Manor" (formerly known as Forest Glen"), "Kingwood Village" (formerly known as Highland Lakes), and "Lakeside Manor". According to the 2000 census, there were 902 people living in Alloueeztownship; however according to the 2010 census there were 1,591 people residing therein including 794 households and 553 families residing inside of Town limits only while 627 households and 151 families resided outside those boundaries alone making it an officially split township/city situation with both having their own government services run out of their respective townships offices! What gives? There must be something wrong because this number doesn't make much sense especially when you consider that there are more people living inside than outside boundaries!

Allouez, Wisconsin was first settled in 1836 by the French and British. The town was named after General Pierre-Antoine Allouez, a military leader during the Napoleonic Wars. The post office was founded in 1837. The first settlers were from Quebec and New France. The village of Allouez was platted in 1838 by John Pemberton and others. A store, school, and two churches were built there in 1840. In 1851, the village had a population of seventy-two people. In 1865, all of present day Addison County was organized into Green Bay Territory due to an act of Congress. On May 10th that year, the Old United States Post Office building at Allouez burned down and replaced with a new structure which served until 1935 when it burned again. In 1912, four men died while working on a farm near Allouez; one is still buried there today.
