In Appleton, Wisconsin, marines have been deployed to many different places over the years. The marines in this town are a part of the United States Marine Corps and their history goes back to World War II. This town was first settled by Dutch farmers in the early 1800s, and it is now home to around 2,000 Marines who serve in various units throughout the United States Naval Militia and Marine Infantry battalions. The marines first served in World War I as part of the American Expeditionary Force. They returned to America after that war and began serving in various wars throughout the years. In 1945, they arrived in Appleton as part of Operation Neptune’s Spear which was an effort to retake Java from Japan. Since then, there have been many deployments for marine troops here in Appleton. Appleton is a town in the U.S. state of Wisconsin, located on the Fox River. As of the 2010 census, its population was 16,872. The Appleton-Muncie metropolitan area had a population of 362,595 as of 2014. The first settler in what would become Appleton was James Halsey who arrived in 1836. He named his land "Halsey's Ford" after him and his brother John Halsey who also settled there in 1837. Appleton soon became an important stop on the Great Lakes Railroads because it contained ample natural resources such as timber and lead that could be shipped to other parts of the United States. In 1854, Cyrus Fenton bought 1/2 mile (3 km) east of present-day Appleton from Joshua Harmon for $1 cash and built a small cabin which he called "Fenton's Fort". In 1865, when Daniel Boone crossed the river at this site he named it "Appleton" after his hometown in Virginia where he had been born two years earlier. appleTON got its name from James Darnall who patented this location on July 20th 1836 while working with Captain Samuel Chase during construction of what would become Madison Street Bridge across the river.. The patent included 2 tracts totaling 26 acres (10 ha). This area now contains most of downtown Appleton including Meeting House Square and State Capitol building Darnall’s grant covered an entire township northeastward to Watertown or Racine County but only one blocklong section extending along Main Street between West Prairie Avenue and Park Row may have been surveyed…. It has long been claimed by some that Darnall actually landed at what is now State Capitol Building; however according to official records this building was not erected until about 1840….. By 1860, all but one blockage associated with Darnall’s survey had been sold off to others……...Although later maps show lots stretching into neighboring townships, it seems clear that only a very small amount (less than 1/4 acre [0.24 ha]) lay within their bounds when Darnall surveyed these areas… so even if there were any valid allegations related to land boundaries prior to 1840 they likely did not result in anything tangible happening until much later……...It should be noted that no deeds were ever recorded reflecting transactions taking place between James Darnall and those living locally at this time……...It has long been claimed by some that James Halseyestead site just north of today's State Capitol Building may have once stood where “Fenton’s Fort” once stood; however according to official records this structure did not appear until about 1840….. According to contemporary sourcesJames Halseyestead probably did reside near current day State Capitol building before moving west overland sometime after 1800

Appleton is a town in Door County, Wisconsin, United States. The population was 7,711 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Milwaukee metropolitan area. Appleton was founded in 1834 by John Addison Appleton and his fellow fur traders as a trading post on the upper Fox River. In 1836, Appleton became the first incorporated municipality in Door County. The name "Appleton" was chosen because it sounded like a word called "apple" in British English. Appleton grew slowly until the late 1800s when lumbering and farming became major industries. By 1910, apple orchards were among the largest in Wisconsin and applecake was one of the most popular items sold at local stores. During World War I, apple production increased as soldiers requisitioned foodstuff from farmers for use in war efforts. After World War I ended, agricultural production declined but lumbering continued to grow due to new technology and an increase in demand for woodcarving products such as pianos and guitars. The current incarnation of Appleton began to form during the early 21st century with a focus on technology development and entrepreneurship within its community bounds As more people moved into rural areas throughout Wisconsin following economic expansions across state boundaries during that time period, many small towns spread out around larger cities looking to keep up with what those places were doing Eventually this led to consolidation of these smaller communities into larger ones which has continue unabated through today's times . Although some small towns have experienced declines in population over time due to factors such as suburbanization or other changes within their communities (e.g., via migration), overall there has been an overall trend towards growth within these locations
