Coffee first originated in the Brookfield area of Wisconsin. In the early 1800s, a Dutchman named Johannes de Grave started to grow coffee plants in a field on the banks of the River Des Moines. De Grave's coffee beans were roasted and stored in caves near his farm. The Dutch name for Coffee was "Koffie" which is derived from the word "coffeepot". Koffie was introduced to America by sailors who brought it over during their voyages. In 1876, John D. Rockefeller founded what would become known as Pepsi-Cola and began selling kola nuts (a type of palm oil) as a flavor additive to his soda products. Kolanuts became popular among Americans because they were healthy and affordable, and they added an interesting flavor to Pepsi-Cola. In 1907, Coca-Cola was born when Dr Pepper president John Pemberton merged two other beverage companies – Quaker Oats Company and The druggist firm Jellico Corporation – into one company called Coca-Cola Bottling Company. At this time, Coke was made with kola nuts as its primary sweetener because it had been found that caffeine did not add too much flavor to many other drinks

Brookfield is a town in the U.S. state of Wisconsin. The population was 6,813 at the 2010 census.[1] It is part of the Milwaukee–Waukesha metropolitan area. The first known permanent settler in Brookfield were two families from Long Island who arrived in 1837. They built a log cabin and raised chickens on their farmstead until 1840 when they moved to what is now downtown Brookfield and started to cultivate maize, beans, and potatoes for sale on their property. In 1845, John Davenport opened his own grocery store in what is now downtown Brookfield and began selling items such as flour, sugar, molasses, bacon, eggs, butter, coffee beans, nails, lumber and machinery. By 1850 there were over 20 stores in the town with an average weekly sales volume of $1 million. In 1861 David Taylor founded the first bank in Milwaukee County with $10 thousand from his father-in-law John Wahlstrom giving him a charter to open a bank at 9th and Washington Streets which became one of the largest banks west of Chicago[2]. There was also a sawmill that functioned continuously until 1914[3]. In 1925 brothers Julius (Harry) and Gustavus Meinecke bought out Harry's interest in the mill which continued operating until 1964[4]. The Meinecks donated land for Earlham Terrace Park which was dedicated on July 12th 1981 by then Mayor Tom Barrett with assistance from President Ronald Reagan[5][6][7]. A year later Expo '87 took place at Marquette University Campus near downtown Milwaukee providing economic stimulus which led to increased development around downtownBrookfield including new businesses,[8] restaurants[9], hotels[10], condominiums,[11],[12] theaters[13],[14], as well as an amphitheater/mall adjacent to ICON park across the street from city hall called "The Cube".[15],[16]} On October 10th 1984Aaron Rodgers became history when he set off into history as he became only second player ever to throw for 4 touchdowns against Green Bay Packers' backup quarterback Brett Favre during game week 17 of NFL season at Lambeau Field; this event would be chronicled years later as "The Catch" or simply "The Game".[17] On December 3rd 1988Milwaukee Brewers pitcher Ron Roenicke hit back-to-back home runs off Cincinnati Reds rookie reliever Don Sutton while playing against them at Crosstown Coliseum becoming just 5th player ever to do so.[18] During game week 25 of 1992ESPN pregame show featured live interview between then Northwestern assistant football coach Barry Alvarez (now head coach at TCU)and then Notre Dame assistant coach Chuck Noll where Alvarez mentioned that if Notre Dame could make it through another bowl game undefeated they would consider moving up to No Man's Land where “It’s not like we are East Coast pros” according To Noll “I don’t think anyone should have any illusions about our ability because we have some guys who play here all year long” referring specifically To Then Defensive Coordinator Lou Holtz who was currently coaching USC Trojans).[19][20] On January 1st 1998Brookfield had its first major mall opening with Macy's coming over from Marshall Fields after being purchased by JCPenney parent company Sears Holdings Corporation

The population was 31,814 at the 2010 census, making it the second-most populous city in Milwaukee County after Milwaukee. Brookfield was founded in 1847 by German settlers and became a town in 1854. The first Europeans to arrive in what is now Milwaukee County were Germans who came overland from Germany in 1836 and 1840. The name "Brookfield" derived from an early settler's observation that there was no brook near where he lived. By 1847, many other Germans had arrived, including Gottlieb Dauber and Johann Friedrich Herder who named the community "Bruckfeld". In 1850, John Fritchie purchased 8 acres (3 ha) northeast of present-day Brookfield for $40 plus costs associated with clearing land for farming purposes; this parcel would become one of the most important sites within today's boundaries of Brookfield. In 1863, when Washington Territory was created out of parts of Minnesota and Dakota Territory, Brockfeld became part of Waukesha County because it lay within its borders – until Waukesha County lost its territory to neighboringMilwaukee County on November 3rd, 1865. On February 15th 1870', Isaac Meyer set up shop at 411 N Broadway between Cedar Street and Union Avenue).
