Burlington, Wisconsin is a small town in the United States. It is located in the central part of the state, on the east bank of the Wisconsin River. The population was 9,971 at the 2010 census. Burlington was founded in 1836 by immigrants from Ireland and Italy. The town name comes from an incident that took place there in 1835 when two men were walking across a bridge over the river when they were attacked by three men who had been waiting for them. One man was killed, and two were taken to jail, where they later testified against their attackers. Burlington became a town because it was granted incorporation as such byWisconsin Territory Legislature in 1839. The first post office opened in Burlington on December 12, 1840. In 1851, Burlington voted to become a state capital and received its present name of Madison due to its proximity to that city. The history of Burlington is one full of innovation and progressivism. When it came time for new towns to be established within Wisconsin Territory following its creation on July 1st, 1848 Pursuit Act (18 U S § 33), Burlington stood out as one of the earliest choices for settlement due to its location on both sides of the river – near what would become Milwaukee and Racine – making it easily accessible from all parts of Minnesota and Iowa which made up much of Northwestern Wisconsin at that time. In fact during his campaign for governor in 1850 Against Land Grant League candidate John Altgeld trumpeted: “I am opposed not only because I will promote good agricultural interests but also because I believe that this territory must be given away gratis” (Lincoln 1990). What followed are some truly amazing examples illustrating just how innovative Vermont community builders could be; such as when after Amos Kendall lost his bid for United States Senator in 1850 he decided to open up landowning African Americans living along his border with Illinois into white society through founding Kendall County (which still exists today) or when soon after becoming President James K Polk’s Secretary of War Josephus Daniels purchased 1 million acres including 100 miles (160 km) of streams north-westward from Chicago so he could have access to natural resources necessary for manufacturing during America’s early years as a republic; lands now known as Jackson County Michigan

Burlington, Wisconsin is a town in the U.S. state of Wisconsin and the county seat of Waukesha County. The population was 7,853 at the 2010 census, making it the fastest-growing city in Wisconsin. Burlington has seen growth since its incorporation as a village in 1852 and has become a major center for trade and industry within the Milwaukee–Waukesha–Eau Claire metropolitan area. The city is named after George Washington Carver, who founded what is now Burlington Industries in 1892. The first settlers to what is now Burlington were Dutch immigrants who arrived during the 17th century and built log cabins on an arm of Lake Michigan near present-day Waukesha County. In 1851, Burlington incorporated as a village under the name of "Haviland". That year, residents voted to change their name to "Burlington" after then-President George Washington Carver. Carver had donated land to be used as a suburb of Milwaukee; when he died in 1907, his estate distributed most of that land among his children and grandchildren. In 1912, Burlington became part of the new city of Milwaukee metropolitan area created by merging two other municipalities – Racine and West Allis – into one larger entity. As part of this merger process, Burlington received an increase in population due to increased commuting betweenMilwaukee and Racine via railroad tracks running through town. In 1970, despite having only 2 buildings left from its heyday as a small community complete with just 100 residents (!), Burlington amalgamated with neighboring West Allis (population 13,000) to form Milwaukee's fourth largest municipality by population (behind Madison (25 million), Chicago (25 million) and Oak Park/River Forest (10 million)). In spite of its size relative to other cities within WI's metropolitan area – which measures over 50 million people -the City Council remains focused on promoting economic development opportunities for all stakeholders within its boundaries both locally and regionally including job creation through various partnerships with businesses throughout southeastern WI along with outreach programs targeting young adults aged 15-24 years old currently living or working outside WI's borders looking for opportunity hereabouts . Mayor Tom Barrett continues this approach while also striving forimproving public transportation options available throughout town while also creating important cultural assets such as art galleries & music venues unique unto each neighborhood

It is the most populous town in Green Bay County and one of the largest towns in Wisconsin. Burlington was first settled by Germans and Swedes in 1833-34. After the war, Burlington declined as businesses moved away or closed down while poverty increased and crime rates rose. Burlington's economy has since recovered however and its population has continued to grow since 2007 reaching 10,671 as of 2019
