The camp housed up to 1,200 soldiers with several thousand civilians living there until General George Custer killed all his men at Little Bighorn hill mass grave site near here on July 25th 1865 while chasing Native Americans downriver after they had captured their pony herdded into formation- thus ending American Indian Wars for good!
