The United States Naval Reserve (USNR) has been providing military support to the Chippewa Falls community since 1917. The USNR’s deployments in support of Operation Neptune’s Spear, which liberated Kuwait from Saddam Hussein’s Iraq, were a critical part of the struggle against Saddam and his regime. In 2004, during the height of the Iraq War, the USNR deployed two MH-60R helicopters to Chippewa Falls to provide medical assistance and airlift supplies to local forces in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. These helicopter deployments were appreciated by locals as they symbolized America’s commitment to freedom and democracy around the world. Today, Navy sailors from Coast Guard units based at Sault Ste. Marie are also stationed in Chippewa Falls in order to provide maritime security for northern Wisconsin communities. This deployment is significant because it underscores our shared commitment to maritime safety and security throughout the Great Lakes region.

Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin is a town located in the town of Chippewa Falls, Wis., United States. The population was 2,611 at the 2010 census. The name means "the falls" in the Ojibwa language. The first permanent settler in what is now Chippewa Falls was John Greenough, who arrived on his horse and wagon on October 3, 1836. Greenough settled near present day downtown Chippewa Falls and built a log cabin known as the Old Log Cabin. He also founded a school which he named after himself, Chippewa Falls Academy. In 1837, Major John Fetterman arrived with his army from New York to help fight for independence from Great Britain. Headed by Fetterman and General Samuel Dennison, the American forces burned down much of British Canada including Toronto and Montreal before reaching Chippewa Falls on November 10th of that year. Fetterman's troops camped near present-day downtown Chippewa Falls until they were ordered to march northward on December 15th towards Fort Snelling where they would start their winter campaign against the Canadian Forces under general Sir George Prevost. On January 8th of 1838 while encamped just south of present-day downtown Chippewa Falls Creek, General Prevost's force discovered an Indian village consisting of several hundred warriors and hostages being held by Chief Black Hawk at Twyford Station about six miles upstream from where today's central business district stands. A battle ensued during which most of General Prevost's force were killed or captured with only a few men making it back to Fort Snelling safely alive; however twenty-six men (captured Indians) subsequently surrendered unconditionally to General Dearborn minutes after their victory over our forces... [ChippingWash] At this time there were no bridges across the creek so supplies had to be brought all overland through difficult country full of cliffs and gorges... This[further] opened up new opportunities for fur traders such as James Watt who bought land adjacent to what is now Downtown Chippewa Rapids northeast of today’s city limits in order build ferryboats able to bring goods upriver past rapids into marketable condition... By 1840 Cougars had taken up residence along lower river banks within easy access [to] marketable goods." Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin is a city in the U.S. state of Wisconsin and the county seat of Milwaukee County. The population was 25,593 at the 2010 census. Chippewa Falls is located on the lower Waukesha River adjacent to the Chippewa National Forest. The falls are a popular tourist destination for those interested in waterfall viewing, hiking, fishing, and picnicking. The first Europeans to visit what is now Chippewa Falls were French fur traders in 1688-89 who named it "Falaise". It wasn't until 1776 that General Anthony Wayne's army arrived here after being sent by Marquis de Lafayette to take possession of what had been part of France since 1633 as part of the Treaty of Paris following its victory over Great Britain at Saratoga campaign (1777). The area around present-day Chippewa Falls was then called current day Yougonton Township but this name didn't become associated with the falls until 1852 when John Prentice founded a sawmill here on Big Creek known as Prentice Mill. In 1868, Chippewa Falls became incorporated as a town when it was combined with Racine and Waukegan into one municipality under Chief Justice John Fitch's guidance. In 1907, Milwaukee Incorporated merged with Racine Corporation forming Milwaukee County which included all of present day Wisconsin except for Dane and Winnebago counties which were detached from it in 1912. In 1947, Manitowoc County was created from portions of Milwaukee County including Chippewa Falls making it one continuous county along with Appleton and Kenosha counties east of Chicago Lakeshore (now La Crosse). From 1901 through 1965, Chippewa Falls was also home to an automatic weapons plant operated by Western Electric Company that manufactured M1 carbines for United States military purposes during World War II before its closure due to wartime regulations outlawing production of such weapons on American soil. After World War II ended there continued be significant manufacturing activity at this site including truck stop serving visitors until 1984 when it closed down again due to economic conditions and changes in transportation patterns withinMilwaukee County caused by Interstate 94 construction nearby
Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin is a town in the U.S. state of Wisconsin and the county seat of La Crosse County. The population was 7,569 at the 2010 census. The name comes from the Chippewa River which flows through it. The first permanent settler in what is now Chippewa Falls was James McKay who arrived in 1792 as part of a party of eight men and took up land on the south side of the river. He named his new settlement after his home village, Scotland, and built a log cabin there on November 6, 1792. McKay's cabin is still standing today and can be visited by tourists. In 1836, David Sibley established a millinery shop in what is now Chippewa Falls while he was exploring land east of La Crosse County during the Gold Rush era. This store became one of the largest mercantile enterprises in early La Crosse County. In 1838, Sibley sold his business to Amos Davenport for $4,000 cash with no interest allowed to him until he had paid off all his debts within six years or he lost all ownership rights to it! Davenport began developing what would later become known as downtown Chippewa Falls into an important commercial center during this time period; however, due to railroad construction nearby (the Milwaukee Road), most development stopped around 1915 when rail travel became more available throughout most of America than it had been before! This lack of development around downtown led to some demolition/ reconstruction efforts taking place during the late 2000s that were ultimately successful in preserving much adjacent architecture including McKay's Cabin & Millinery Store building on State Street between First Avenue & Second Avenue – currently listed on the National Register Of Historic Places!
