Coffee production continued to increase throughout nineteenth century until World War I when things changed drastically. Farms stopped growing because of war efforts and prices dropped precipitously due to subsidies from countries like Germany that invested in agricultural production during wartime. This affected not justDe Pere but all over America, which caused a huge decline in demand for beans. In fact, by 1941 only 2% of all American bean sales were attributable to Coffee Bean trade! Thankfully, this trend reversed beginning in the mid-1930s as new methods for processing beans emerged that made them more affordable and produced better quality products overall! In 1855, De Pere was founded by two brothers named John and Peter De Pere as a small farming community on the banks of the Menomonee River. The village quickly grew into one of the most important settlements in central Wisconsin due to its location and access to resources. Over time, DePere became known for its agricultural products such as cheese, flourishes (a type of cornmeal), apples, potatoes and other vegetables. In 1916, DePere resident Winthrop Aldrich donated land to create what would become campus of UW-Madison. This donation opened up much opportunity for growth in the village throughout subsequent years; however, it was only after Aldrich’s death that university expansion really began to take off in earnest at DePere – with enrollment reaching 585 students by 1945! today there are over 507 alumni living locally who attend UW-Madison each semester! Today’s economy largely depends on tourism which brings in millions of dollars annually to the local economy; nevertheless, many residents still remain engaged with their local businesses and enjoy lifelong friendships with those who have been longtime members of their communities!

De Pere, Wisconsin is a town in the U.S. state of Wisconsin and the seat of De Pere County. The population was 8,865 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Milwaukee–Kenosha Metropolitan Statistical Area. The first people to live in De Pere were Potawatomi Indians who had been living there for centuries before European settlers arrived in what is now De Pere from Turtle Rock Township in 1837. Captain John Fitch landed at Koshkonong Bay on August 9, 1837 and enterprising American traders soon began arriving to trade with the tribe and their allies including the Menominee Indians and Potawatomi Nation. In 1840, French Canadian trader Francois-René Lemaire established a fur trading post along the Fox River near present day De Pere under the name "L’Aigle." In 1846, Lemaire sold his post to Samuel Houghton who renamed it "Houghton's Fort". The fort served as a military outpost until it was abandoned by US forces during World War II due to its strategic location between Lake Superior and the Chicago area. After the war, Houghton donated portions of his land within today's town limits to local farmers as part of a land settlement program which led to widespread development in De Pere over time. It wasn't until after Prohibition that alcohol began flowing through town proper; however, many years later prohibition repealed when America entered World War II again wanting access to supplies coming from Canada that had stopped flowing into Europe because of Nazi control over key shipping lanes passing through that region at that time. On October 20th 1934 Wm Auchinleck became mayor and held office until his death on May 6th 1935 following which Jens Petersen took office as acting mayor for one week only before being elected Mayor on July 3rd 1935 by special election following Auchinleck's death effective June 30th according to Wis Statutes Chapter 174 Section 1(a). At this point Petersen continued As Mayor until November 15th 1935 when he resigned effective December 15th because he was appointed Assistant Deputy Sheriff for Racine County by Governor Lenroot Patterson pursuant to Wis Statutes Chapter 178 Section 2(a) (the position being vacant since Alanson Herrington resigned effective September 12th 1935 due To His Own Health Problems). On January 10th 1936 Wm Auchinleck's widow Nellie assumed mayoral duties upon her husband's death effective January 17th 1936 according to WisStatutes Chapter 184 Section 2(b)). During Nellie Auchinleck's tenure dePere experienced rapid growth with new businesses opening up all aroundtown including several banks and several professional architects designing numerous commercial buildings becoming extant such as Sears Roebuck & Co., Magna Carta Bank, Pabst Brewing Company, Kuker Drugs etc..Most importantly howeverNellie kept alive downtownDepere culture with herhusband having been an avid supporter thereof dating backto their earliest days living aboveWis stand where they currently maintain their home today while also hosting numerous cultural events throughoutthe year typically featuring comedian/tourist Jeff Dunham or musician Art Garfunkel..Today much like thenDepere functions more as an tourist destination than an industrial center although both have some importance locally given their historical significance within DePere community
