From 2006-2011, when United States Southern Command took over CENTCOM's airspace and responsibility for Eau Claire operations from United States Northern Command, the 145th Airmobile Squadron operated C-130Is from Schleswig-Holstein Airport near Hamburg, Germany while elements of battalionsized units used KC-135 Stratotankers from Kingsley Field AFB, California during training exercises throughout Northwest Europe and NATO theater deployments support coalition operations In 2011-2012 members of Headquarters445 th Airlift Wing patrolled an international perimeter security exercise known as "Pineapple Express." This multinational exercise simulated an attack on U.S. soil by terrorists using sophisticated foreign made explosives hidden inside passenger containers headed for major U.S cities including New York City and Washington D.C.. The exercise also included flying into Canadian airspace through Manitoba before landfall at Toronto Pearson International Airport; and conducting electronic warfare missions against ground targets several thousand miles away utilizing airborne earlywarning/early defense aircraft This year marks both our 10 th anniversary commemoration of activation and our 135 th anniversary since we first transported passengers with Douglas DC-3s off our base!
