Hudson, Wisconsin is a town in the town of Janesville on the east side of the Mississippi River. The population was 7,821 at the 2010 census. It is also home to UW-Madison and Manitowoc National Forest. The history of marine gift history in Hudson begins with Captain John Hickey who founded Hickey's Farcical store in 1795. He started selling fish, meat and other seafood items from his store which soon became known as a local tourist attraction. In 1818, Captain George Brown built a small boat launch called Brownsville Landing on the river near where Hickey's Store now stands. This landing served as an important commercial stop for anglers during their trips downriver to reach the falls at Muddy Rock. This area was then part of Green Bay until it was annexed by Hudson in 1836 and became part of the city limits of Janesville. As Hudson grew, so too did its love for maritime gifts and exports. In 1865, Jens Nielsen opened his grocery store on Main Street which became one of Hudson's most popular businesses until it closed its doors in 1984 due to economic troubles. Nielsen's daughter, Karen Peterson continued her father's tradition by opening her own grocery store on First Avenue in 1987 which still operates today! Hudson, Wisconsin is a small town in thestatic United States County and was first settled in 1835. The population was 2,005 at the 2010 census. Hudson is located on the east side of the Wisconsin River and is bordered by Manitowoc to the south, Green Bay to the west, and Racine to the north. The village of Hudson occupies a small half-square mile at its center and includes just over 1,000 homes. The area that would become Hudson was long considered part of what is now Northwestern Wisconsin due to its close location between those two states and because it contained many natural resources such as sandstone quarries, limestone mines, and earthworks used for farming and defense. In 1836 John Cavanaugh laid out a plat for what would become Hudson on land that he had purchased from tribal members of the Potawatomi Nation. By 1840, however, there were only about 100 people living in what would eventually be known as Hudson Village. In 1847 James Dennison organized a group of settlers Intent on Settling in this Area which later became known as Dakota Territory due to President George Washington’s order banning slavery in that area at that time. On July 6th of that year they laid their first claim with an estimate of $10 per acre (which they paid) within present day boundaries of present day Hudson Village–this claim still remains unvalidated today but played an important role in giving early settler support for their decision to move here from Illinois Unknown even then). That same year saw another important event when General Anthony Wayne arrived with his army after crossing Lake Michigan near present day Green Bay and marched through present day Hollandale towards Chicago; this marked one point where Wisconsin territory changed hands from Indian ownership to American control. The arrival of General Wayne helped spur development here including construction of roads and railroads so settlers could get foodstuffs upriver while also helping settle new land around town which included much current neighborhoods like Park West and Lincoln Park today thanks in part to donations from individuals like Julius Rosenwald who believed these areas would someday play an important role in Milwaukee’s growth (Rosenwald also donated land for University campus). In 1850 Hermann Griggs founded Griggs Ford Insurance Company here which continues today as one of downtown's most iconic businesses along with other businesses located nearby such as Kohl’s Department Store (founded by Refinancing Bank founder Fritz Kuhn) or Tractor Supply Co., Incorporated (a major provider of farm equipment across America) since 1912. In 1853 James Acheson purchased 371 acres southwest corner lot #5 off US Highway 54 for $15 per acre making him one among the earliest settlers here; his purchase made him president pro tem for Cook County at that time – an important position because it gave him access to local government services like building roads or funding infrastructure projects needed for rapid growth hereabouts (Acheson continued to hold this position until his death in 1886). Other prominent early settlers include Jens Jensen who started a quarrying business near modern-day Park West; German immigrant Matthias Koenigt established a bakery next door called The Dutchman’s Bakery & Cafe which still stands today; as well as Isaac Sauer who built what is now West Side Market on some original farmland near Hollandale High School before it moved into its current location across Main Street from First Baptist Church back in 1922.} By 1860 there were more than 4500 residents living scattered throughout what would eventually become Johnson Township including parts now inside Schuette County (including portions now inside Monroe County), De Pere Township, Elk Grove Village/East Elmhurst Township/Westchester Borough Township etc.; all these municipalities formed together during county mergers following World War I under terms set down by Governor Winfield Scott subjecting them each “to develope according their own ability without interference from any other body save themselves”.}
The first Europeans to visit the area were French fur traders in the late 16th century. In 1701, Captain John Smith discovered the Hudson River and named it after the Dutch navigator, Cornelius Hudson. The area was surveyed by Jean-Baptiste De La Salle in 1785, and exploration began in earnest with John Jacob Astor's successful Journey on the Grand Trunk Railroad from New York City to Albany in 1825. By 1840, over 100 miles of railroad had been built through this part of Wisconsin, making it one of the most heavily traveled areas in America.
