Kaukauna, Wisconsin is a small town in thecentral United States. The population was 5,441 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Milwaukee metropolitan area. Kaukauna is located on the north shore of Lake Michigan and it straddles the border between Racine County to the east and Door County to the west. The first settlers in what is now Kaukauna were Native Americans who lived along present day Waukesha and Menomonee rivers. The first european immigrants to Kaukauna arrived in 1834 when Isaac Brock sailed from Marquette with twelve other passengers bound for Rome, Italy. He had been sent by his employer, John James Audubon, as a representative of American Ornithology Society specimens collected by him near Point Pelee on Great Lakes region. In 1835, Augustus Thornton built a cabin on land that he donated to the town of Kaukauna. In 1836, Jens Jensen married Anna Lofgren which made Kaukauna one of only two towns in Wisconsin with both female residents and male residents at that time (the other being Grafton). On December 6th 1840 Hauger became sole proprietor of an early gristmill named "Grange" after purchasing it from David Grange (a pioneer settler). Hauger operated this mill until 1862 when he sold it to Alexander Ditmarski who operated it until 1888 when it was taken over by Captain Julius Ascherman who ran it until 1911 when it passed into private hands again. Captain Ascherman's son-in-law James Acker bought the mill in 1911 and continued operating it until 1958 when it was torn down due to lack of funding; however, some pieces remain today inside Krocodile Park near downtown Kaukauna. This was one of only two deployments by Marines in Iraq during 2006; other deployments were made by Army troops stationed at Baghdad International Airport. 2009 - The USNS John F Kennedy (LPH-10), which is operated by Naval Homeport Command’s Harbor Squadron 10, delivers more than 16 tons of medical supplies including oxygen tanks, ambulances and stretchers directly to Kuwait’s civil airport following their country’s devastating earthquake that killed over 350 people

Kaukauna is a town in the U.S. state of Wisconsin, located in Kaukauna County. The population was 2,224 at the 2010 census. The first permanent settler in Kaukauna was John Fitzpatrick in 1836, who built a cabin on the east side of present-day Kaukauna Lake.
