The Neenah, Wisconsin Army National Guard has been a part of the United States military since 1775. In 1881, the state acquired an armory and began to provide national guard units with uniforms and equipment. The Neenah Armory was dedicated on July 1, 1882. The garrison unit of the Wisconsin National Guard became the 2nd Battalion, 7th Regiment (Neenah) on October 1st of that year. On November 10th, 1886, the battalion becoming part of 3rd Brigade in 2nd Division in Army of Nebraska under General George Crook. On December 8th 1870 by order of President Ulysses S Grant army troops arrived at Neenah for occupation purposes. It was during these years that German settlers appeared in this area and started to arrive in numbers which led to some tension between local Germans and Anglo-Saxon Americans. This tension would continue until after World War I when American forces moved into Germany as part of the Weimar Republic’s attempt to recover from years of warfare and revolution. In 1916 Major General John J Pershing selected Neenah as his headquarters during World War I due its strategic location near Lake Michigan and its proximity to other theater command posts across America including St Louis Missouri; Omaha Nebraska; Buffalo New York; San Francisco California; Key West Florida; Memphis Tennessee; Baltimore Maryland; Winnipeg Manitoba can be found within one hour’s drive from downtown Milwaukee or 50 miles north east of Chicago Illinois Army Garrison Unit: 2nd Battalion (7th Regiment), Wisconsin National Guardsmen - October 1st 1886 3rd Brigade - December 8th 1870 2nd Division - November 10TH 1886

The Neenah, Wisconsin community has given many gifts to the military. In 1860, a group of men from the town pooled their money and bought land for what would become Fort Neenah. The fort was built to protect settlers from Native Americans and other threats. The fort served as a base of operations for the Union Army during the American Civil War. In 1865, Fort Neenah was abandoned and its cannons were removed. However, some of these cannons still remain in use today as part of the United States Military Museum at Ft. Meade in Maryland.
Neenah, Wisconsin is a town in the U.S. state of Wisconsin. The population was 3,898 at the 2010 census. Neenah is located in the Ozaukee County seat and it lies on the north shore of Lake Michigan just east of Milwaukee. The first Europeans to visit what is now Neenah were French traders and missionaries in 1672-1673, who named it "Neenah" after their leader François de la Salle. The name likely means " fundamentally good." In 1836, when the Miami and Northern Railroad was built through central Wisconsin, entrepreneurs began thinking about developing land that would make money from shipping goods between Milwaukee and Chicago via Lake Michigan. George Wirths bought 5 acres (19,000 m2) of land at Neenah for $350 cash and donated it to the town as a public park in 1837. In 1849, an Act of Congress created Ozaukee County with its own government and made Neenah part of it; however, local politics continued to dominate until 1870 when Republican James Fenton became mayor and completely rewrote the city's charter to make sure that all decisions were made by him rather than elected officials who could be influenced by outside interests. This also helped create a more business-friendly environment which has had a significant impact on downtown development ever since. In 1907 Neenah became home to America's first high school for women - Mount Carmel Female High School - making her one of only two towns in America with this distinction up until that point! In 1930–31 NEENAH instituted Prohibition which led to some economic problems but ultimately did little damage given how easy alcohol procurement was still available over the radio! A major redevelopment project took place in 1978 when Prentice Mulcadog & Sons developed an office complex on property that had been part of farmland used for chicken farming before being purchased by Mayor Fenton for $275,000; soon afterwards NEENAH's largest shopping center opened - anchored by Sears (now Sears Holdings Corporation) - providing much needed jobs during difficult times following World War II while also preserving much of downtown architecture including many local businesses along with new elementary/middle schools (the last high school closed down in 2006). Today there are several restaurants inside or adjacent to downtown including Lawry’s Pizza & Pasta as well as several banks plus light industrial properties near Interstate 94 which have been redeveloped into mixed-use buildings primarily consisting of retail space but also featuring apartments or condos depending on lease terms

Neenah was a town in Dodge County, Wisconsin, United States. The population was 1,541 at the 2000 census. It is now part of the city of Neenah. The first settler in Neenah was John Larkin in 1852. He and his family homesteaded on the east side of the Kettle River which flowed through their farm. In 1856, James Pogue founded a gristmill and sawmill at what is now known as Pogue's Mill Road. The mill provided important local assistance during the early days of settlement in Dodge County. In 1865, Daniel Webster purchased 640 acres (2 km²) of land from Jens Hansen for $200. This tract became known as Webster's Prairie because it lay near where Daniel Webster later located his plantation, White Sands Plantation. Webster began to clear land for farming and built a few homes around this new community that he named after himself – Neenah (named for his wife). A post office called Neenah was established in 1867, and remained in operation until it was discontinued in 1907.. A school also opened here in 1867, serving students fromresidential districts within Dodge County; however, it closed shortly thereafter due to financial difficulties. In 1870–71 when US Highway 10 crossed over into Dodge County from Canada via Two Rivers Landing along its present-day route of highway 9W (), the town's only connection with outside world was by way of an open-air bridge across the Kettle River which led to what is now known as Bridge Street (). That year also saw construction on what would become one of America’s most famous landmarks: The Milwaukee Road’s first ever steam locomotive #4–the “Old World” – based at nearby Steele’s Mill during its initial testing period between Racine and Appleton (). The townspeople were anxious to have transportation available to them so they could find work on farms orchards or other businesses within minutes' ride of their homes; but this anticipation did not come true until after World War I when traffic congestion throughout much of eastern Wisconsin caused farmers looking for markets westward to switch to trucking instead of rail transport.; however this commercial development did not take hold until after World War II when Interstate 94 brought rapid growth rates and more people started moving into town center jobs opportunities thanks largely to machine tool manufacturing operations located thereabouts - such as those operated by Raynet Manufacturing Company which relocated therefrom following deregulation efforts initiated by then Governor William Ziegler including passage (in 1947)of Senate Bill 592 legalizing truck stops servicing towns larger than 2,500 residents within both rural areas statewide.). By 1990 however much agricultural acreage had been replaced either destroyed by fire/damage done during weather extremes over many years or moved away altogether due to suburban development movement outstripping demand for farmland among current occupants living inside urban limits... As recently as 1998 only about 20% remaining Agricultural land remains extant while heavy industry continues redevelopment values bringing back heavy use past…. Despite these challenges though Downtown NEENAH retains its vitality with several popular nightlife venues such as The Neptune Lounge & Saloon open late( hosted live music each weeknight except Mondays), Farmers Market every Saturday morning beginning fresh off market shelves before 3pm followed by Chamber Music Series Saturdays eveend starting at 7pm featuring chamber music accompaniment typically involving young professional female vocalistsaccompanied live pipers providing musical entertainment,) high school seniors transferring from neighboring schools commuting into NEENAH each day prior various extracurricular activities offered daily like band concerts given Fridays night preceding homecoming events; small Businesses trying hard thru very difficult economic times being creative thru innovative marketing methods like using social media sites like Twitterand Facebookto connect with potential customers inside & outside town…… Today there is still some activity taking place spite increased costs associated with recent industrial expansions although many businesses have already closed reducing diversity among retailers.) Neenah was founded in 1837 by Methodist missionaries. The town grew slowly until it became a thriving community with a population of around 1,500 in the early 1800s. In 1871, Neenah became the capital of Wisconsin and its first city. In 1902, Neenah amalgamated with the neighboring town of Scott to form Scott-Neenah.
