In 1845, they founded a town on what is now known as East Park Avenue within present-day New Berlin. That same year, they also founded a school district that would include parts of Milwaukee and Racine counties until it merged with the Milwaukee Public Schools system in 1967. New Berlin's name has been variously given over time - initially "Nova Berlingua" (new bells), then "Novo Beringia" (new land), finally "New Berlin" when it became an incorporated town on December 12, 1850. The original town site was just east of today's intersection of State street and Park avenue - stretching to what is now Uniontown northward along State Street while including much ofnow-West Allis east of Uniontown along Park Avenue. In 1854, John Fitch opened his grocery store on West Seventh Street near where Uniontown meets Waukesha county to sell goods bought from traders in Russia and other parts of Europe during their travels through the Great Lakes region during that period called la Via Railrocca or the Railroad Road Expedition which connected Chicago with St Louis via Lake MichiganBeltline passenger service started up at this point making travel between Chicago and points west very convenient for those living west of Lake Michigan easier than ever before! On October 20th 1860, voters approved a measure creating new townships to be formed out west as well; these included present day Douglas County as well as portions of Waukesha County! This showed how much democracy had progressed since our Founding Fathers had first conceived this idea back 150 years earlier! A post office was established at New Berlin on October 20th 1860; it remained open until it was discontinued by mail on May 9th 1907 when all official communications within our community were moved toMilwaukee due to changes brought about by electricity! The last message sent from New Berlin was received on Sunday evening September 6th 1907! On January 1st 1870, NewBerlin incorporated under Act No 715/1870 which provided detailed regulations for local government operations including election laws and criminal prosecutions etc.; this legislation followed similar rules & procedures used by our neighboring townships throughout our fledgling community… residents voted unanimously to incorporate under this act despite some protest from charter members who felt that incorporation would give them no power whatsoever over local matters? Incorporation did not mean however that we abandoned our rural roots nor did we forsake our German culture & language which still plays an important role in many aspectsof life here today… we continue to observe traditional German holidays such as Hannoverfest & Krippenmontag etc…. We are also proudto have several excellent schools within our community – one being Our Lady Of Mount Carmel Catholic School which provides instructionin both elementary & middle school grades both morning & afternoon sessions startingFebruary 8th each year!
