The Coast Guard gift history in Pewaukee, Wisconsin began in 1926 when a group of men from the town pooled their money to buy a small boat. The boat was used to transport goods up and down the Milwaukee River. In 1938, the Coast Guard donated an engine to the village of Pewaukee. It was added to the local pride when it was brought back into service in 1965 as part of the first international coaling station built in Wisconsin. Today, the Coast Guard operates two vessels in Pewaukee- one is used for patrolling waters near shore and the other is used for training missions off shore. The village has also built a pier and launch dock to accommodate these vessels. The village also sponsors a summer festival that features art and music along with carnivals and food booths. The Village of Pewaukee has been proud to support both its community members and their local maritime institutions since 1922 when they became one of 13 villages withinWisconsin joining forces withthe United States Coast Guard’s Atlantic Fleet Coastal Command Station at Muckelman Point on Lake Michigan. Pewaukee is a town in and the county seat of Winnebago County, Wisconsin, United States. The population was 5,592 at the 2010 census. Pewaukee is located on the Fox River between Milwaukee and Waukesha counties and has a total area of 32.2 square miles (81 km²). The first European to visit Pewaukee was Meriwether Lewis in 1802. He named it after his friend George Washington Pewling who resided in nearby Pleasant Prairie. The first permanent settler in what is now Pewaukee was John Cushing who arrived in 1835. By 1860, there were 125 people living in Pewaukee Township, most of whom were farmers with some land holdings serving as churches and schools. In 1871, the railroad came through Pewaukee with associated development that included building a store and post office on Main Street. This led to rapid growth for both the town and its accompanying rural municipalities which by 1900 had tripled their populations to 1,500 residents within the limits of present-day Pewaukee Township. In 1912, when Winnebago County was created from portions of Milwaukee County, part of its boundaries lay within what is now downtownWaukesha County while other parts extended into present-day suburban Milwaukee including parts of West Allis and Brookfield Heights. accordingly, when police officers began patrols outside city limits during prohibition days – usually after midnight because no alcohol could be sold inside Cities Limits – they patrolled rural areas adjacent to downtown until relieved by squad cars or motorcycle deputies patrolling those areas until 11 p.m., following which drinking became an open secret among urbanites only available to those inside City Limits where retail liquor sales continued until 7 a.m.. As more people moved into central WI during World War I for economic opportunities at various plants manufacturing munitions or war goods throughout eastern Wisconsin etc., many new residents found themselves commuting daily from outlying townships such as South Bend or Menomonee Falls due to lack of public transportation options then available within their own township borders; this pattern would continue well into the postwar period when villages like Pewaukee experienced explosive growth even as they lost population due largely to

Pewaukee is a small town in Wisconsin, United States. The population was 9,710 at the 2010 census. The first post office in Pewaukee was established on April 12, 1875. The current post office building was built in 1902 and is one of the few remaining buildings from the original town site. The area that now makes up Pewaukee was originally part of the Town of La Crosse. In 1872, La Crosse allowed residents to purchase 640 acres (250 hectares) of land east of town for $2 per acre. This property became known as "the farm" and later became part of the new city of Milwaukee. In 1892, when Milwaukee annexed what are now parts of Pewaukee and Park Ridge, it decided to change its name to Pewaukee to reflect its growing size and importance within the city limits. For many years after this decision, there were no changes made to the town's official name; however, unofficial nicknames such as "Pew-town" or "Pew-gee-wee" persisted into the 21st century. The early history of Pewaukee can be traced back to 1869 when John Wessels settled on a farm near present day downtown Pawtucket Square with his family. Wessels had bought land north of la Crosse for $4 per acre from Augustus Racine for just over two years earlier in 1868. With this initial investment came an agreement between Wessels and Racine that if any crops grew more than 1/2 acre (0.28 ha), then both parties would share equally in profits; should production fall below this limit then only one party would receive a proportionate share regardless of size - thus beginning a business partnership which lasted until Racine's death in 1870). Over time other settlers followed suit and by 1880 most all but three families had located within two blocks west of downtown La Crosse - making Pawtucket Square home to nearly 900 people! Wessels' descendants continue to live in central Pawtucket Square today - their businesses include Pawsitively Dog Daycare (opened 1984), John Wessels Insurance Agency (established 1975), JWseed Farms pet food store (now closed) and John & Betty's Bakery & Cafe (closed 1985). In 1907 donation allowed constructionof first house on square which still stands today complete with plumbing & wiring etc., still used by government agencies
