The Naval Sea Systems Command located in Milwaukee has been responsible for the design, procurement, and deployment of naval systems since the early days of the United States Navy. The command has a rich history dating back to World War II when it was part of the U.S. Navy's General Board which created doctrines and plans for naval warfare. In 1971, NASMC became an autonomous command with its own budget and directorate within the Navy Department. Pewaukee is a town in the U.S. state of Wisconsin, located on the Fox River. The population was 9,827 at the 2010 census. Pewaukee is part of the Milwaukee metropolitan area and it is bordered by Milwaukee to the north, Waukesha County to the east, Racine County to the south and West Allis County to the west. The town began as a small settlement on a bluff overlooking the Fox River in what is now Pewaukee Township in Waukesha County in 1838. It grew rapidly after prohibition of alcohol made wine and liquor more affordable, and in 1851 it became an incorporated village under first name of Menomonee Falls until incorporation as a town in 1892. The economy has been based largely on agriculture since its foundation, but development has occurred throughout much of downtown with some new buildings being constructed recently. In January 2008, Pewaukee joined Milwaukee as one of 36 communities within Walker's proposed "Great Lakes Megacity". The plan calls for large new developments along Lake Michigan shorelines that would include office towers, shopping malls, hotels and other forms of commercial employment outside of downtown Milwaukee proper while preserving local character and history

Pewaukee is a town in the western part of the U.S. state of Wisconsin, located on the Fox River. The population was 9,878 at the 2010 census. Pewaukee was named for James A. Pewelee, an early settler and fur trader in what is now the town. The first permanent American settlement in what is now Pewaukee was made by David Rice and his family in 1836. Rice had come down from Michigan with a group of settlers to find new land to farm after being denied access to Minnesota'sMinnesota Territory by territorial officials because they thought he would sell his land into slavery. He and his family arrived at what is now known as Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin on November 27, 1836 and built a cabin near where the current home of the Pewelee family stands today. In 1840, David Rice's son John married Mary Ann (née Pack) from nearby Menomonie; they started a farmstead that grew into one ofWisconsin's largest agricultural families during the mid-19th century. By 1860, John and Mary Ann's farm had grown to include over 200 acres (100 ha) including an arsenal/armory that served as their primary residence until it burned down in 1875; John also founded or helped found many local businesses including a millinery shop which still resides within walking distance of their old house today! In 1855, Lewis & Clark Expedition passed through central Wisconsin on their way upriver to visit Lake Superior; upon their return trip back across the river in late May or early June they noted large lakes lying along both sides ofthe river east of Milwaukee – this area became known as "Pewaukee County". The first recorded reference to our present day town occurs when Daniel Boone visited La Crosse in 1792 while exploring northwest Indiana; he called it "Beaver Dam" but soon renamed it "Beaver Falls". Some confusion exists about whether or not this particular name derived from Beaver Creek or Beaver Dam since both places were once part of La Crosse County – however we can be certain that prior thereto there was an actual creek running through our present day township which bears that specific name! According to tradition, members of Congress who resided near Beaversville (now Arlington Heights), Illinois - located about 15 miles (24 km) northwest of downtown Chicago - would take turns coming back out for dinner each night so that everyone knew where they were seated without having to go door-to-door! It wasn't until 1907 when Congressman George Eustis moved into former Congressman Solomon Fishers' mansion just south OF downtown Chicago on Northwestern Avenue - thus beginning City Hallrification efforts hereabouts permanently!!! It should be noted here that even though much has changed since then - most notably due to suburban growth adjacent TO downtown Chicago - muchofwhat constituted 'Pewaukee County' still remains within its borders!! Inaugurated officially as such by Mayor Melvin Kapp during ceremonies held at City Hall earlier this year were two new jail cells specifically designed for use hereinbelow... simply put... these cells are larger than any currently extant public jail cell(s) IN THE CITY OF CHICAGO!!! In addition TO serving as an important transportation hub between northwestern WI & eastern IL & points northward - particularly during times when ample wheat crop production could not be brought inside city limits due to lack thereof available acreage - our current Main Street Functionally doubles as our 'Town Square'; all manner Of community events have taken place HEREIN resultant making it oneOf THE most popular destinations imaginable for locals AND visitors alike!! Pewaukee is a town in Milwaukee County, Wisconsin, United States. The population was 21,865 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Milwaukee–Waukesha–West Allis metropolitan area. The name comes fromacre waiting-room in Dutch and means "place where many people are gathered". The first white settler in Pewaukee was Jacob Snee who arrived in 1838. In 1856, he and his family sold land east of the present-day town to John Darnall for $5 per acre. John's son Daniel built a log cabin on what is now Main Street near Clear Lake in 1857. A post office called Pawtucket was established in 1865, and the first gristmill on the current site opened in 1870. The grocery store became an important local economicstay until 1978 when Kroger took over operations. In 1908, Pewaukee voters passed a bond issue to build a new high school which would become one of the largest high schools in America. The school opened its doors on September 5, 1909 and soon became known as one of the best high schools in Wisconsin due to its stringent requirements for admission such as grades 9 through 12 including Advanced Placement courses . In 1938, Pewaukee voters approved another bond issue for a new library which would be located just south of town on Third Avenue between Waukesha Road and State Highway 61 (now I-94). The library opened its doors on October 1, 1938 and remains one of the most popular cultural attractions within town today!
