The National Guard was first organized in 1919, and Shorewood was one of the towns that mobilized. The town's first National Guard unit, the 7th Infantry Regiment, was activated on October 24, 1919. The regiment served until 1922. On November 15, 1920, the Wisconsin state legislature passed a bill proposing the establishment of a national guard system in Wisconsin. On December 1, 1920, President Warren G Harding signed the bill into law and began implementation of the national guard system in America. The 7th Infantry Regiment re-activated at Racine Army Base on January 1st 1921 under command of First Lieutenant John Sutherlin. The regiment served until 1923 when it moved to Whitewater Army Airfield where it remained until 1935 when it returned to Racine Army Base. In 1936, Shorewood also joined with other towns in Wisconsin to form a regional arm of the United States Coast Guard called Homeland Defense Command (HDC). This regional arm operated out of Racine Army Base and included shorewood as its Headquarters Unit. In 1940 Coastal Defense Command became part of USCG which merged with USN commands on May 20th 1941 to become United States Navy Department Central Pacific Fleet authorities responsible for all coastal defense activity within 10 degrees North latitude and 5 degrees East longitude including Shorewood Harbor dredging operations. In 1945 Coast Defense Command was redesignated United States Naval Forces Europe and remained active through 1946 when it reverted back to Coast Defense Command as part as UPNVHQCDTPCLF

Shorewood is located in the town of Emmetsburg, Wisconsin, on the east side of the river. The population was 2,554 at the 2010 census. It is a small town with a population size of over 1,000 people. Shorewood is known for its large number of lakes and ponds which provide fishing and boating opportunities. The community also has two churches, one independent and one Baptist. The town began as a farming community in 1854. By 1870, it had developed into a small mill town with five mills and thirty-six residents. Shorewood was incorporated as a village in 1912. In 1966, it became an unincorporated community again. The current name comes from Orin Crouch's land that was donated to the town by him in 1907. The name means "shore wood" or "shorefront."
The National Guard has been a part of the United States since 1792. The Guard originally consisted of militia soldiers who were available to man cannons and fight in military campaigns as needed. After the American Revolution, the Militia Act of 1795 authorized the creation of an independent National Guards system. The first National Guards units were organized on July 16, 1796, when a force of 10,000 militiamen from New York City formed to support General James Clinton during his campaign for President. The Militia Act also created a system for training and arming Guardsmen and provided for their assignment to various state militias or local forces when called into service. On October 1, 1800, Congress passed theNational Defense Act which declared all able-bodied men in the country “a body politic” responsible for their own defense and ordered all militia companies (and any company composed wholly of women) must arm themselves by December 1, 1800. This act was followed by similar legislation in 1802 and 1804 that further regulated Militia behavior. By 1812 most states had their own militias with capabilities much like those found in national guards organizations today. In 1861, when America entered into war with Confederate forces following Abraham Lincoln’s Emancipation Proclamation, over one million Union troops were raised domestically including 30000 guardsmen from New York City alone (this number does not include Regular Army troops recruited across the US). These civilian volunteers functioned as auxiliaries to professional military units while also serving as propaganda assets outside of battlefields; often featuring prominently in public shows such as Yankee Doodle Dandy or Tom Sawyer Abroad. In addition to duties within belligerent armies they served honorably at home protectorate during Reconstruction after the Civil War ended; playing an important role in policing new black neighborhoods and leading cantonment life until end of World War II when they were disbanded completely due to program changes at Fort Annapolis which replaced them with artillery batteries operated by Air Forces! Shorewood, Wisconsin is a small town in the western portion of the U.S. state of Wisconsin. The population was 4,717 at the 2000 census. It is part of the Milwaukee metropolitan area. Shorewood was founded in 1838 by English settlers and has been located in this location ever since. The first permanent settler to arrive in what is now Shorewood was John Clements who arrived on December 10, 1838. John's brother-in-law Amos Morse had also settled here a few weeks earlier with his family and their livestock. In March of that year, a group of twenty nine pioneers boarded the "Discovery"which sailed from Portsmouth, England for America on January 12th 1840 under Captain James Cook with 11 passengers and crew including Samuel Morse (brother of Alfred) as pilot and mate. They disembarked at Green Bay on April 6th where they met other American pioneers led by Solomon Grundy who had come overland from Illinois Territory two years earlier. The party continued its journey across country until it reached Racine on July 12th where they camped for three days before continuing their journey northward along the east bank of the Menomonee River to their new home site near present day Shorewood Boulevard and Washington Avenue which would become their capital city within one year! In 1841, five more families joined them here including Isaac Griggs who had come downriver from Canada; Lewis Prentice who had been born in Maine; John Anderson who had emigrated from Rhode Island; David Perkins ( younger brother of Jabez) who had followed his father; Asahel Goodrich ( older brother of Amos). These additional families brought with them much needed land and resources which helped contribute to shore wood's growth over time! By 1860, there were over 100 residents living inshore woods! During prohibition times early Shorewood drinkers found themselves unable to purchase liquor but fortunately enough many local businesses did not close down thereby permitting business owners to continue operations even during prohibition without any government assistance!
