South Milwaukee is located onMilwaukee's south side, adjacent to Waukesha and Kenosha Counties to the north and east, and Racine County to the west. The area that would become South Milwaukee was scattered among numerous villages until 1836 when a group of farmers led by John Dyck formed a town called NorthMilwaukee on land that they purchased from the Potawatomi Nation. The name "South Milwaukee" was chosen because it was thought to be one of several languages spoken by Native Americans living around Lake Michigan before European settlement began. The first settler in what would become South Milwaukee was Samuel Silliman who arrived in 1837. In 1840, John Dyck donated land for a new town named WestMilwaukee which became known as SouthWaukesha after he bought property there from David Kaufmann In 1847, Jno Burchardt donated land for what would become Clydborough Park after his son John founded Chicago's first beer company, Bryn Mawr Brewery. On October 15th, 1853 – just two years after incorporation – SouthWaukesha voted unanimously to change its name to SouthMilwaukee because many believed that since it lay on "the south side" of town (southwest of downtown), it should be considered part of Milwaukee proper rather than Waukesha or Kenosha counties which were both eastoftowns then

By 1825, coffee had become an important part of British culture. When Napoleon Bonaparte became emperor of France, he banned coffee because it was considered a foreign import. From this point on, coffee became a symbol of French domination over Europe and its people. After Napoleon’s death in 1814, coffee again became a popular drink throughout Europe. During this time, different types of beans were used for different purposes such as Turkish-style espresso (made from whole beans roasted with sulfur dioxide) and filter-brewed espresso (a type of Italian roast). In 1875, Dutch brewers perfected methods for brewing perfect English Breakfast Tea by infusion using subcritical water at a low temperature instead of boiling water like other tea masters did at that time. At this point, everyone knew about fine art when it came to brewing coffee! South Milwaukee is known for its manufacturing base, including paper products, clothing and food items, medical supplies and toys. The first permanent settler in what became South Milwaukee was Nicholas Lyon in 1836. He and his family built a log cabin on the current site of City Hall Square in 1840. In 1843 John Saylor arrived from Illinois with his family and began to cultivate land near present-day First Avenue and State Street. By 1860 there were over 50 settlers living in South Milwaukee, most of whom were farmers or mechanics who had come to Whitesboro for work during the American Civil War. In 1872 Samuel Morse moved from Waupun to establish a flour mill on Menomonee Creek east of town center along present-day West Side Highway (now Clybourn Road). The mill produced flour until it closed in 1938 due to competition from other mills in the area. Morse also donated land to create what is now North Park Drive across Menomonee Creek from City Hall Square where people enjoyed access to merchants such as Jepson & Sons grocery store before it was developed into North Park Drive Recreation Area today. In 1931 Hermann Goering established an airfield southwest of town which served as aAAF training ground until 1945 when it was destroyed by Allied bombardment during World War II; all evidence remaining suggests that only two small buildings still stand today: one dating back to 1916 has been preserved as part of nearby Wagner Manor museum while another smaller building housing an office tower remains unoccupied but accessible through Hennepin County’s rehabilitation program . From 1945 until 1970 almost all industrial production within reach of downtown stopped because new production facilities were erected closer to Interstate 94 which then led to heavy job losses for local manufacturers; many large companies closed up shop altogether leaving few remnants behind such as those at Hennepin Electric Cooperative which continued operations until 1984 when they too merged with their larger neighboring company eliminating any possibility for customers or employees ever again seeing each other face-to-face . When Iwas born my dad named me after Julius Erving aka Julius Caesar he said “I name my son after someone who has always done something great – somebody who always stands up for what's right – somebody like Julius Erving” so I guess that pretty much sealed my fate 🙂

The city began to grow rapidly during the 1870s when railroad developers came to this area with plans to connect Chicago with their new lines. The population reached 100,000 by 1880 and quickly increased as businesses grew along with jobs available for people who could work in factories or mills. Many residents were immigrants who arrived in search of opportunity and a better life. In World War I, South Milwaukee played an important role in helping support military efforts all over America. In 1918, Mayor John Haltzik estimated that more than 60% of all manufacturing done within city limits took place at one point or another from industries like automobiles, munitions manufacturers and shoeshine shops; those companies supplied goods to troops fighting abroad. During World War II, South Milwaukee again played an important role as both a center for production and marketing operations for food products like cereal and milk as well as war materials like planes and tanks.
