The Suamico Coast Guard Station has been in operation since 1903. The station is responsible for the security of the Wisconsin coast and its waters, located just south of Green Bay. Suamico also houses a small air traffic control tower which provides airspace coverage for the town and surrounding areas. The Suamico Coast Guard Station Gift History began with a gift from Mr. and Mrs. John Hogue in 1903. They donated an old World War I airplane to be used as a training aid by the Coast Guard Station. This was followed by a gift from Mr. and Mrs. Julius Kapp in 1924 which funded the purchase of two patrol craft, one ferries and one launches boat, as well as four lifejackets for use by members of the Coast Guard Department on their patrols around Wisconsin's borders! In 1938, a donation from Mr. Edwin Sanger allowed the construction of two new patrol craft-one Ferriswheel-and four launch boats at Suamico Cove! In 1947, another donation allowed the purchase of three more lifejackets! These donations were followed by another from Mr. Wm Bendix in 1951 which funded the construction of five additional patrol craft-two ferries and three launches! In 1966, Msgr., James Fenton dedicated an Oldsmobile Cutlass SSK to supplement those purchased prior! This was followed in 1973 by another Oldsmobile Cutlass SSK donation that allowed for purchases of seven additional patrol crafts!! A number of other gifts have been made over time including six engines (in 1984), thirteen lights (in 1990), sixteen radios (in 1992), twenty computers (in 2002), twelve antennas (in 2006) and eleven vehicles including both single engine fireboats and oceanographic vessels!!! Through all these donations it has been our hope that we have been able to provide support to our community while keeping them safe from harm at home, on their travels or when working offshore!!!

Suamico is a town in Jefferson County, Wisconsin, United States. The population was 1,527 at the 2010 census. The name means "place of Buffalo" in the local Native American language. As early as 1851, people were living in and around Suamico. A post office called Suamico was established in 1857, and remained in operation until it was discontinued in 1907. The community began to grow rapidly due to the railroad being built through the area by 1872. The first school was built in what is now the town of Suamico in 1875. By 1890, there were over 100 residents living in Suamico. In 1904, a two-story Baptist church with a school on top was built on land that had been part of a lumberyard. It served as the town's first high school for about ten years before becoming known as North Middle School after being renamed for then-Mayor John Domenici (D). During World War II, many people from surrounding areas came to work at Waupaca Arsenal to help build ammunition plants near Waupaca. As word spread of wartime needs, more and more people started coming to Suamico! After the war ended, many residents decided they wanted their own businesses so they started moving out of Suamico into newer towns like Appleton and Manitowoc while some stayed behind and continued growing their businesses into current day times

In 1851, the town of Suamico was organized. The town was named after a small stream that flowed through the area. The first settler in Suamico was John Mueller. In 1854, the town had a population of 10 people and a post office. In 1865, the town had a population of 25 people and a post office. In 1869,Suamico had an population of 50 people and a school. On July 1, 1871, Suamico incorporated as an unincorporated community with a population of 30 people. On November 3rd, 1908, Suamico became part of the City of Milwaukee when it seceded from Racine County. In 1895, Suamico had one store and died at this point due to lack of economic development in the area. The first hospital in Wisconsin was built in Suite I on State Street in downtown Milwaukee in 1907 by Drs Julius and Clara Kappesberger for local use only. That same yearSuamico opened its own hospital which served both residents and visitors until it closed in 1961 due to financial troubles. The second hospital built in Milwaukee (in Riverwest) by Drs Julius and Clara Kappesberger served as the county’s primary medical center until it closed also in 1961 due to financial difficulties but reopened as Memorial Hermann Hospital after that company acquired it within its larger merger with Harrah’s Entertainment Corporation On January 1st 1912Suamico entered into an agreement with Racine County providing for annexation by that county shouldSuamigo become economically prosperous; however this did not happen In 1916Suamico voted to become Republican Party stronghold within their city limits despite there being no Republican party presence or candidates for mayor or councilmember at that time During World War IISucamico furnished vegetables for many American troops stationed along the shorelines adjacent to our city limits where they were required under military regulations
The first Suamico post office was established in 1879. The current post office building was built in 1963.
