Coffee has been brewed in Suamico, Wisconsin for over 350 years. The first coffeehouses were built in the early 1800s and the town's first grocery store was opened in 1892. The first roastery was founded in 1897 and the town limited production to two cups of coffee a week. Today, Suamico is known for its high quality coffee products and its history as a center for coffee culture. The word "coffee" comes fromArabic qahwa, meaning cup or pot. In 1795, French traders trading with the local region discovered plants that would eventually produce espresso beans. In 1802, John Snow acquired some of these beans and began brewing espresso at his house in Chicago using water from Lake Michigan. The first Starbucks Coffee opened its doors on April 6th, 1998 in Seattle, Washington across from CenturyLink Field. In 1915, it merged with the Milwaukee Coffee Company to form the Milwaukee Brewing Company. The company was purchased by J.P. Morgan and other investors in 1923 and became part of United Breweries, which eventually merged with Philip Morris Companies to form Brown & Williamson Tobacco Corporation.
Suamico is a small town in the U.S. state of Wisconsin. The population was 1,402 at the 2000 census. It is part of the Kenosha–Racine metropolitan area. The town began as a log cabin settlement on the banks of the Kettle River in 1853, and by 1870 had become a small community with a school, church, store, and post office. In 1896 it became an incorporated municipality with a mayor and five trustees. The first postmaster was Wm. Halsey Fenton; later Postmaster General John Ahern served from 1907 to 1912. In 1919 Suamico became home to the world's first all-electric light bulb factory when American Electric Light Company opened its plant there for manufacturing electric lights and other products.. In 1984 Suamico-based Kohl's Corporation (now Kohl's US) founded what is now JCPenney Stores Inc., one of America's largest department stores chain with more than $1 trillion in sales annualized since 1999.. A new high school campus opened in 2006 adjacent to Suamico High School which has been renamed after Alma Mater Suamico-Kenosha High School (AMK) following donation by alumni of both schools who wanted their alma mater to have her name recognition statewide..

The first Suamico, Wisconsin Settlement was organized in 1851 by John F. Smith and James H. Gorman. They named their land for the Suamico Indian tribe. The first buildings were a log cabin and a barn, both built in 1852. The town started to grow quickly after that, and by 1870 it had a population of ninety-six people. In 1871, the government granted them township status, and Suamico became a full city in 1898. Today,Suamico is a small town with a population of about seventy-five people. It has two schools - one for grades K-8 and one for grades 9-12 - as well as an economy based primarily on agriculture and tourism. The town has three main businesses: A & W barbeque restaurant, motel/motel, and grocery store. There is also a small park located near the center of town which features picnic areas, playgrounds, baseball diamond, basketball court, etc., as well as several historical houses dating back to the 1800s
In 1836, the first settler in Suamico, Wisconsin was John S. Westfall. The town was founded on a farm called Crawford's Landing. In 1847, the first post office was established in Suamico. In 1865, the first school was built in Suamico. The population of Suamico increased from about 25 people in 1870 to over 100 people by 1900. The railroad arrived in Suamico in 1901 and the town became more developed as it became a transportation center for the surrounding area. In 1959,Suamico had its first fire department and began serving the community well into the 21st century.
