The Wisconsin Army National Guard has been providing service to the community in Waukesha, Wisconsin since 1907. The unit is responsible for a wide range of military activities, including support of the state's law enforcement and emergency services; homeland security; and guard duty in schools and other public places. As part of the American Revolution, the Waukesha Volunteers served as part of Captain John Stark's Regiment from 1775-1778. From 1812-1827, the regiment served with distinction under General Anthony Wayne and fought at Battle of Fallen Timbers and Battle of Chippewa River. In 1827, they were disbanded due to budgetary cuts but reorganized as Company F (the "Waukesha Volunteers"). From 1847-1850 they served as an infantry regiment under Major General Winfield Scott Hancock before being disbanded again. In 1903, the Wisconsin National Guard was organized into two brigades: brigade A (the "Milwaukee Brigade") was stationed in Milwaukee while brigade B (the "Waukesha Brigade") relocated to Waukesha. On July 1st, 1907, these brigades were combined into one brigade which would serve until 1975 when it was abolished and its units amalgamated into the current Wisconsin Army National Guard battalion organization. Waukesha, Wisconsin is a town in the U.S. state of Wisconsin. The population was 508 at the 2010 census, down from 584 at the 2000 census. The town is located in Racine County and is part of the Milwaukee metropolitan area. It is home to Waukesha Community College, one of five community colleges in Milwaukee County and one of ten campuses statewide. Waukesha was laid out by David Taylor on November 1, 1795 as part of a system for developing federal land parcels along Lake Michigan that included Racine and other towns in central Wisconsin. Waukesha's first settler was John Chilton, who arrived in 1802 with his family from Maine. In 1836, David Sanger donated land to the town for a public school; construction began soon afterward and the first building was erected in 1840. By 1860, Waukeesha had a library, seven churches (of which two are still standing), three Masonic lodges (all now closed), four schools (fivegraded through high school), two stores (one open until 11 p.m.), an opera house (now used as an event center) and six residences - all built by local farmers or their families as part of what became known as "the village." In 1871, Waukeesha's post office opened and remained open until 1959 when it merged with neighboring Racine into that city's postal service district

The name of the town comes from the Sauk and Fox people who lived there before European settlement. The first documented mention of Waukesha dates to 1753 when John Green brought supplies to Fort Michilimackinac on Lake Michigan from the Indian village of Menominee. In 1834, Waukesha became a part of Racine County and was known as "the small city". In 1846, Racine County merged with WI to form Milwaukee County. On January 1, 1847, Waukesha became an incorporated town under territorial jurisdiction of Milwaukee County. In 1925, aluminum production began in nearby Mount Pleasant and soon led to increased traffic and development in Waukesha Heights which had been developed as a park for residents near the factory site. By 1932 Aluminum Corporation of America (Alcoa) had built two other plants within one mile of each other in neighboring Kenosha – one producing copper coins for wiring homes and businesses, and another manufacturing tungsten carbide lightbulbs. With more than 12 thousand workers employed at those two plants alone during Prohibition (1920-1933), Alcoa's impact on local culture was profound. Today Alcoa continues operations as an energy company with its headquarters located in downtown Cincinnati Ohio which is home to some 4 thousand employees across thirty-six states including Wisconsin Rapids where Alcoa manufactures power turbines; Superior generating stations;and Solon furnaces making aluminum castings for electric vehicles
