Other vessels accepted into USNA service through donation include: tugboat SS President Reagan(TUGR-11),destroyer USS Yorktown(DEVH-1),trucker boat MV Sunnyside(LPTB-2)andCablegram carrier CG Brant(CGKH). The USS Whitewater (IX-69) was a Navy corvette that served in the Pacific Theatre during World War II. She was named for the Whitewater River in central Wisconsin. The ship was redesignated as USS Whitewater (CV-3) on 1 September 1945 and recommissioned on 15 October 1945. She served as an escort carrier in the China Coast area before being transferred to the United States Atlantic Fleet on 10 May 1946 and serving there until she decommissioned on 12 November 1947.

In 1854, the Illinois Central Railroad was extended from Chicago to Milwaukee. The new line passed through Whitewater and other towns in the area, including Racine and Waukesha. In 1857, a railroad company was organized by John D. Rockefeller, Jr., and others to build a rail line from Buffalo to Milwaukee. The first section of this line was completed in 1861, but it was not until 1872 that the company reached Whitewater. At that time, the town had about 2,000 residents and consisted of a small core around the post office and depot.
